New to me 99 D1

Picked up my first Disco about 3 weeks back from a local small Land Rover dealer. 153k miles and still runs like a champ. When I bought it, the running boards were still on and the CDL linkage was seized. After failing to free the shaft on the linkage I had to replace it. Just had its first true shakedown run today in the country and it performed fantastically. I don't think I've liked a car this much since my first car in my teens. Everyday I drive it I have a grin ear to ear.

Looks great. A 98 disco was my rover. Six rovers later I'm on a 06 LR3. Good luck with it and enjoy the ride
Thanks. Love the LR3s. I considered trading in my mustang for one, but couldn't find one for a reasonable price within 300 miles or so. Decided to go the D1/D2 route instead.

Great Disco. I know exactly what you mean about grinning ear to ear when driving these vehicles. They are so fun in a way that other rigs just don't match in my opinion. Enjoy it!

Love it! Looks just like my '99 D2, except with different door handles. ;).

I'm not sure how the cooling passages differ between the D1 and D2, but I'd seriously look at putting a 180 degree stat in there to save your head gaskets!

I use the Ultraguage to monitor my temps (I went from 215F+ on simple drives to 188-190F constant with the stat-swap) and I probably added 75k miles to the life of my finicky Rover V8 by that simple mod alone. Stat and guage combined probably set me back only $100.

Nice tip! I'll take that into consideration for sure. Still replacing little things here and there but, with higher temps just over the horizon, it seems like a good idea!
