I picked it up cheap and built using almost all parts from my box... need a few things to race it, but it is a blast to ride!

Sweet brakes! I'm sure you know those brakes are equal in value to the frame, right? That's awesome! That alone makes it a proper 'cross racer.

Looks good!

thanks...

yeah, I bought the frame, fork and brakes... For what I paid, I figure I bought the brakes and got a free frame/fork.

I rode 2 hrs of single track today and the brakes need work! at the end between glazed pads and cable stretch, I scared myself good!

Both are fixed tonight. First cross race in 7 days!

Those are awesome brakes. Those are Paul's Neo Retros. That brake as well as the Empella Froglegs, Spooky brakes and a few others are all modern versions of the Mafac Canti from the late 70s to early 80s. One of the best 'cross brakes ever.

However, that mostly translateds to mud clearance and rim to pad clearance. Power can be less than excellent. You have to get the hanger placed just right to maximize the power and I would certainly recommend a softer pad - BUT KEEP THEM CLEAN! Soft pads love to collect rim shavings which will eat your rims alive.
