Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Yes! Some of the 94's have an odd pinion flange and you will need the normal style to make it work with your driveshaft.

It should work. Watch the match-up of the driveshaft with the new axle's pinion connection point, where your universal joint from your driveshaft bolts to the rear axle, in other words; they may not match, but hopefully they do. Make sure to connect the parking brake cables. Ignore any ABS connectors.

get springs too and trailing arms, and compressor maybe brake master cylinder.
but mostly just drive the heck out of it. most of the fellas here prefer the gen 2 rigs for a lot of different reasons.
i really like my nimble tiny (tinny) gen 1 lwb. what a sweetheart. she is earnest, eager, reliable and a very stable companion off road. if you find another gen 1
get
ecu
tps
ignition
starter
radiator if its brass copper
emergency flasher switch (important little number), in fact get all the switches

gen 2 :get front calipers and rotors. get the hubs too.

Thanks for the help!! Do you know if there is a gear ratio difference? Also on the the range selector the 94 has one more selection in low range what's up with that? The donor is a complete vehicle what else should I snag that would be useful ?

that rig is gorgeous.
i was expecting the usual dilapidated clunker.

the newer have a AWD option the gen2 guys can explain better.
it gives a lot and not much at all depending on your expectations.

its not simple to adapt to you 91

If yours is a V6, I pulled mine from the passenger side power steering mount and the driver's side plenum support…

explain to me again why the engine is coming out?

a clean chain attachment is threaded boss holes on the block.

generally i like to remove as much of the engine as i can while its in the car (its a convienant cradle and i can look for clues to its condition or demise )
all the way down to the block if possible. so im lifting as light a load as possible
reinstall i like the engine complete

Motor either has a bad rod bearing or piston slap I think sounds like it's going to come apart when it gets to about 2000 rpm & can only hear it alittle when at idle. Drained oil & inspected bottom of drain pan it looked like sparkles.
