Nice platform. All for less electronics....!!!!!! That being said, I have an 04 duramax which is my future expo truck. Diesel is where its at for a multitude of reasons in the expo arena.

Truck looks awesome and glad to see other full size diesels getting into the off road world (not just 12" lifts with 26" chromies)

fish-why transfer flow instead of aero?

either one is expensive. are you planning to put in a slide-in or just a shell?
if you're just doing a shell i would put in a $430 100 gal transfer tank, seal and vent it to the outside. attach your fill tube to the shell and build a platform over it.

cool truck, and to answer your question, current expo 2001 3500 dodge dually with shell, project expo 1989 suburban, prepping for cummins swap

A buddy of mine got an Aero. Neither of us was impressed by the 18g "skid plate", nor the welding of the tank in general. It started leaking just a few years later. I've heard similar stories from several other people.

Meanwhile, I had a 46 gal Transfer Flow tank in my F250. Nary a leak anywhere.

On edit: My truck has a Callen shell with a very basic interior in it. I thought about putting an in bed tank in, but I didn't want my (sleeping) bed to be on top of a diesel tank. Seems like they always stink.

EXPO-Vehicle

Not sure when you started your thread. I have a Jeep with many trailer configurations for expo-ing. But I have to say, a full size is just as fun & capable. My platform is an 03 Dodge 2500 with a six speed manual, 35 inch tires and NO LIFT! No Lockers (yet.....this summer is the build up. KORE suspension and lockers) Level kit for the winch bumper and firestone air bags in the rear to help some camper weight at times. I have a Haulmark LaVita pop up made for a Dakota shimmed to fit. The smaller pop up stays in the confines of the trucks outter dimensions, and not too high above the cab. Heater-stove-beds amenities and not too heavy as well. A sturdy camper.

And Yes! It can go "Back Country". A good strong "Stock" platform and skilled driver will go places. My trial run : Black Rock Desert to Lake Powell. 4X4 to Blue Notch bay. Stay 3 days. Then to Natural Bridges Monument and 4X4 from there into canyonlands thru the Abajo Mountains. Spend two days in Beef Basin.

Then thru the heart of the "Needles District", traversing "Silver Stairs" to and over "Elephant Hill". Then off To Ouray Colorado!

From Ouray to Telluride via "Black Bear Pass" freeking out Jeepers and Motorcycles along the way. Then to Juanita pass and over Tin Cup Pass 4x4 roads in Colorado.

NO PROBLEMS OR WINCH NEEDS ANYWHERE! The USPS was nervous for me in Canyonlands traversing Elephant Hill. But I'll tell you......that heavy diesel and camper put weight over the tires and stick to the rock like glue!

I could haul plenty of gear food and water for all places and long periods of time in the back country. Long range with the diesel and one extra 5 gal can of fuel.

A month on the road and back country. You're not gonna rock crawl like a Jeep, but you can go most places with some skill. I even took her up Poison Spider mesa in Moab this last fall. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHQQCY4mDe4"]YouTube - MovieMoab 1.wmv[/ame]

Couldn't figure out how to put a pic in here. Feel free to e-mail me at rckymntlife@aol.com if you want to see some images from the treck and how the tuck did. The vid above at you tube should give a good idea.

Good luck with your project !

Just picked her up a few months ago. Need to get a camper for her. No major complaints so far....ain't she pretty? (hope the pic shows up)

93', W250, diesel, automatic transmission (had to, got a bad back). Was tossing around getting a regular cab, glad I didn't. Had a 95' Ford diesel extended cab and swore then I would never get a regular cab again. Having the extra room makes things so much easier, for me anyway. Going to put a fridge in the cab someday, looking forward to that and a camper. And putting another 300 thousand miles on her.

Haven't been keeping real good track of the fuel mileage, but I've been pleased with it. Got 18.3 miles to the gallon with an easy 2000 pounds on her back thru north eastern Nevada. Very long and flat with a tail wind at 60 to 65 miles an hour.

Pratty - was somewhat surprised to hear you mention your turning radius being a bit wide. Maybe the size of your tires or a suspension mod has something to do with it? I just know that that was one of the things I was very pleased with when I got my truck.

Yeah I think I am going to have to make some adjustments to my steering setup. I know having 15" wide tires doesn't help.

Sounds like you have a good vehicle and plan. I would avoid the Kore setup. They do not custom valve their shocks. It's a one valving for all setup. Carli Suspension or Thuren Fabrication will customize your system at no extra cost and offer excellent after sale service. Great video! That smaller Hallmark did well. I'd be rockin' and rollin' with the Northstar.

Thanks man Its good to know there are someone on here that is local.
I have been getting 16-18 mpg around town, depends on how heavy my foot is that day. On the highway I have been getting around 18-19. I figure once I switch to a 4" turbo back instead of the stacks and change my gears from 3:55 to 4:10's I should be back up to 20mpg again. But I am not sure how much difference the 6" lift will make over the 4" I have now. I should be getting my 6" on this week if Wilson's will get their act together.
