New to us 94' RRC LWB, Green...........as it should be.

Rode my motorbike down to Newport beach to pick this up yesterday. Got soaked!

I have been looking in earnest for about a month and had gone back and forth between the Disco and RRC. It came down to the RRC LWB simply because I love the way it looks and the add interior space.

This one had been lovingly cared for by an older couple in Malibu. I received a huge service history with many big ticket items done in the last year.

It has been re-sprayed and the paint is an 8. Very clean and straight, drove the same and towed a trailer for the first time in its life. The trip over the Grape was a breeze, cruised at 60 with no silliness from the temp gauge. My first road trip impression is very good, It was fairly quiet, even with the sunroof open and the suspension was very smooth and compliant. It loves the fuel but no more than my Super Duty did. The airbags are gone, replaced with 2" OME and shocks.

The headliner is new and the seats show wear but not excessive cracking. All the other trucks I was looking at were missing the parcel shelf and the rear quarter interior panels, this one is complete there as well. The only thing not working is the cruise, which I certainly could have used on the long slog back this morning. Any help here would be appreciated.

All in all, a good find and solid platform to build our first Expo rig.

Download the rave manual and check the fuse box for the cruise control. It's generally either that or a bad connection somewhere. Welcome to the Rover Family.

front axle leak

Was doing some cleaning yesterday evening and found some gear oil on the inside of the right front wheel. The rubber cap on the end of the axle was bouncing around in the wheel. This will be my first repair after changing all the fluids in the diffs ,tranny and transfer. PO was nice enough to have the oil changed the day I picked the truck up.

Looking for advise on this repair. Seems straight forward enough, but I'm finding the Rover stuff is not always as it seems. Parts source for seals / bearings would help too. Probably a good idea to do the bearings if this has to come down that far?

Your best bet will probably be rovers north for in stock parts. As far as the repair goes it sounds like the cv boot is just worn out. If I was you I would replace both them while you're down there and repack them with grease. The nice things about the classics is that they are easy to work on, and you could do the job in your driveway.

It's the rubber cap on the face of the drive flange. Just clean up the cap and the nose of the flange with white spirit or brake cleaner and push the cap back on with a smear of RTV silicone sealant, and then make sure that the axle's breather tube is clear and unkinked. It's no big deal.

figured since I was going to have the hubs off I'd do the wheel bearings too. Parts on the way.

Took the air dam off and was looking at the springs yesterday. Seems a bit of a mis-matched pair. It has OME 2761 up front and 2762 out back. Correct me if I'm wrong (John), but I want a set of 2751 for the front. I will be putting a bumper/winch on and the truck seems to be a little "nose down" in its current configuration. The other ? is, will I be able to get the 235/85-16 under this truck with what I believe is a 2" lift? Have heard yes and no on this so any advise is welcome.

Any pics of your RRC LWB with the same lift and the 235's would be good too.

Thanks!

IMAGE_106.jpgIMAGE_107.jpg This is my RRC with the Heavy Duty OME springs and 235/85 tires. I got about 2" of lift and never had any clearance problems. I thought I'd add a winch/bumper that would need to be supported by these springs, but never have done it and now the RRC needs to go to make room for my Series. Debating on removing the suspension or leaving it with the truck when it goes. I have been very happy with this configuration overall.

Thanks Charo. Leave that suspension in there for the next guy, I'm sure he will appreciate it. Probably not worth the time it would take to rip out anyway. Did you have to adjust your steering stops to keep the 235's from rubbing.
