NEW/UNUSED NATO Gas/Diesel Jerry Cans - CHEAP

After 70 years of using the original German designed Jerry can, a design superior to the US Blitz style, NATO has gone the way of the US Military and are now using the plastic SCEPTER cans (the ones I have that leak and piss gas all over my Jeep when the start to expand). The new CARB cans that you buy now just plain SUCK.

These are the non-CARB models, the rea deal. The SAME cans that some places here in the valley are selling used for $50 to $75 each depending on the condition. The same type that were selling for $90 as the supply of new ones ran out after the the manufacturing ban. These are hard to find in any condition let along new and they have not been cheap.

I have seen a number of posts by people looking for these. Look no longer. :wings: :Wow1::victory:

Ok here is the deal. Jeep Expeditions started a group buy of these. We didn't know if we could buy 50 because two years ago we bought 70 of the Scepters in a group buy so we opened it up to a few other clubs. As of today, less than 24 hours later, we have 96 cans that have been ordered thru us. The company that imported these on the east coast told me now they can put 60+ cans in a shipment so it looks like now we are onboard to buy two shipments. Oh and if it matters the color is green as they are not commercially made cans but military cans. If you want red ones or another color, I would suggest Rustoleum.

If you need a quality Jerry can before you can't buy them any more because of CARB regulations (fortunately AZ is one of the few states that has not adopted these regs yet) you can join the group buy and get one or more for $36.40 each delivered here to Phoenix.

Payment accepted via Pay Pal to "payments@jeepexpeditions.org". Please note your name and phone number on the Pay Pal payment and that it is for Jerry cans.

We only have about 20 left to purchase so it's 1st come 1st served. They will be here in Phx the 1st week in Jan and will be available for pick up near the airport at a location that will be announced. If the demand is high, we can work on another shipment of 60.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me: steelponycowboy@aol.com

That is the quickest way to contact me as I am not on the forum every day.

You must arrange to pick up cans in Phoenix, AZ however we will consider sending direct once they arrive for a small extra charge if you don't live in a CARB state like CA where you can own them but they cannot be shipped or sold there.

first ive heard of a scepter can leaking. i sleep in the back of my truck with mine and have had no problems

They only leak if you don't follow the directions and you fill them past the full line, or if you put gas in a diesel can with rubber gasket vice the required Viton gasket for gasoline...

My club bought the last 70 couple of Scepters back in 2008 from the only US Distributor that had any left, it was my understanding from Scepter that they would not import any more to the US.

I don't know about operator error, I bought 6 of them and only used them for gas. I put 4.5 gallons in each just so there isn't so much to expand. Still no love, tried 4 gallons and the same problem. They blow up like a puffer fish and leak, have leaked from day one. I know other people who have complained about them leaking too. That is my experience with them. On the other hand I have never had a NATO can leak, that is my experience with them.

I don't really care if anyone buys these or not. The club is not making any money from the deal so there is no gain to us other than we are getting cheap cans When this last batch are gone, they're gone. Just trying to pass the word. There are less than 20 left now.

Check your gaskets, if theynare designed for diesel which most are, putting gasoline in will expand the gasket and cause leakage.

I have run the diesel gaskets while storing gas but made sure that the gas never touches the gaskets. Ok for a short term fix

The cans were the gas models from the "factory" Most of them were green with the red strap, there were a few all red ones. Scepter was nice enough to send me new gaskets at no charge but still no help. I don't know maybe we got a bad batch. Our water cans had some leaking problems too but that was corrected with new gaskets.

did you put the cap on???? I can understand having one that leaks, but a whole bunch? If your water cans are leaking as well, i'd deffinatly say operator error...

I had 3 Scepters that expanded out and leaked just like the OP posted his did, checked and found I had the correct gaskets, wasnt overfilled, contacted the company I go them from & they said that was impossible & sent me new gaskets which still leaked. I sold them all and bought the steel NATO cans from Sportsmansguide at the time and have never looked back. I would never buy or use another scepter can for fuel of any type based on my personal experience with them, and I have no affiliation with the OP.

You could make some serious cash selling the all red ones.

Mike,
Just to be clear, these are the standard spout on the right side (when facing the can) type and not the large mouth of any sort? Are they the like the type Atlantic British is selling? If picked up in Phoenix then that's the full price (i.e., no additional shipping charges if picked up at the tbd location near the airport?
If so then the above price (for people in Phoenix) would seem to be a good deal.
