I just picked up a super clean 1999 E250 5.4 V8 with an Advanced 4x4 conversion! Let the interior mods begin!

I have owned that van for the last 7yrs. I traded it for a 2003 7.3 E350 Quigley and some cash about 2 weeks ago. Call me if you want any info. How did you come by it???

I can not stress enough the value of adding a quality sound deadener and insulation throughout the entire rig, doghouse, walls and roof along with the floor of course.

There is a section on the sportsmobileforum.com for homebuilds that has some good info.

Keeping the wgt down will really help with the 5.4 V8 and mileage.

Keep us posted with lots of pics as you progress

i had a 2000 quigley 5.4. It's pretty quiet and the sound doesn't travel through out the whole van.

now my 2003 quigley 7.3 is a different story.

Really? The powerstroke is a LOT louder on the highway eh? I think quiet is worth more to me than MPG. Good to know.

I sell and use quiet ride, I have not found anything that makes a bigger difference in road and engine noise than a properly installed quiet ride system.
Diesel vs gas is more than just mpgs it also a hp/torque comparison. I tow lot in the mountains so it was a no brainer for me. Deal with the noise so I could have the power I desired to do 75 over mountain pass towing whatever i want.

Insulation is a top priority, but 1st is a bed of some sort (with understorage) that will comfortably fit my 6'2" frame until I sell the Syncro and get a penthouse installed by Colorado Camper Van.
