I looked at the quote in your post and now see it was 18 Seeds that said he was bringing in your his this weekend to CCV - thought it was you. Ignore me, my wife says that method works best

Yank out the carpet and lat it out on some plywood...

Look at the blank canvas of the cargo area and cross my fingers...

Make some adjustment marks to the previous owners carpet. Hopefully it will serve it's job as a template...

Fresh blade, let the carnage commence...

Curse, cut, curse cut....

Use a straight edge to even out the uneven carpet lines...

Use the circular saw for the long straight cuts...

And the jig saw for the fine work...

First round rough cut...

The edges still need routing and the wood will get a few coats of marine varnish.

Test fit of the newly welded up aluminum frame that will serve as the base for the back seat, bed and storage area...

Second round cuts have been made, edges have ben routed over and the 1st coat of marine varnish is drying. The next coat will go on this evening.

The front section will have a 20" deep access door to a closed compartment underneath that will be 20x20x by approx 48. The deep cycle batteries, propane, etc. will be in there.
I have some flip hinges that I ordered from FWC and will mount them to the the top once the plywood deck is on. The back of the bench will be 20" high and when the seat back is flipped forward the bed will be 80" long.
Cargo access will be from the rear doors. I'll post more pics as things go along. Right now I'm waiting for the varnish to finish drying so I can put the third coat on in the morning...

I'm going through a breakup and moving nearly everything I own into storage. The van is making a little progress, but is not a high priority right now. The back deck with flip-seat backrest has been completed and needs cushions.
