We rang in the new year in one of the most remote parts of Death Valley. Good times for sure.

as usually you guys do a great write up and make me always add another place to the visit list...
I gotta say the "style" of your writing mixed with the pics is killer
thanks for taking the time to put this together as that is harder than the traveling to me

I wish we could have gone with you guys, thats a place we missed on our last DV trip and I've been itching to go. I think I might really give it a shot for Thanksgiving this year. I wanted to do it 2010 but then the family guilt started setting in..........

Man, I miss that place. It sounds like you timed things perfectly and your write up and pics definitely capture and convey the "vibe" of the place.

Your exit timing was perfect! Icy roads and a trailer....... yikes!

Here is a web site on the Salt Tram that goes into more detailed research than you can handle in just one sitting: http://salttram.blogspot.com/

These guys are the authorities on the Tram. I've been out with some of them and one is here on the Portal.

nice writeup!
I love Saline, Panamint, and Eureka Valleys.
Winter is a beautiful time to be there.

Very cool write up! I was just showing Saline Valley maps to the wife the other day.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Saline is a great place.

sweet pictures!

Yes, yes mine are! :D

Seriously though, thanks for letting us use the 4 great shots i posted in the report of yours. I gave you credit at the bottom (even if you want to remain dark and mysterious :D ). You have a great eye for photography. It was fun to have to see the plushy 100 series rigs there!

Great report Dave! The weather hindered our plans for the New Year, I guess we're not brave enough!

Jim/Teotwaki, thanks for the link on the Salt Tram. That's great stuff!
