Newb, HDR image Processing techniques

From what I have read there is a technique for HDR processing that involves merging two shots of the same scene taken at different exposures. Is this correct? I was wondering what the technique or tool is for doing this. I have CS3 and would like to experiment a little. How is it done? Even just a keyword that I could search would get me started. Thanks!

Also, if you simply google HDR, or HDR processing you'll find tons of info.

Good luck!

okay...stupid question. In a hopeless attempt to redeem this blatant waste of memory and bandwidth, how about sharing some examples where this technique was used. "before and after"s maybe?

thanks btw...

I use the software Photomatix

They have a free download you can play around with on their website. It's very easy to use

Yes, that is correct. As I stated above, I use Photomatix to create my HDR images. I use the Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) feature of my camera to take 3 different exporures (usually -2,0,+2) automatically. Then you can import the 3 images into Photomatix and play with adjusting it to your liking.

Hope that info helps a little :)
