I'm interested in organizing an overlanding (self driving) South African adventure for my wife and I. I don't have any specific overlanding experience but I live in West Africa (Nigeria) so more or less understand the dynamics of travel in Africa.
Initially I was considering to overland by way of a truck with a reputable company; the trucks can transport large groups with people from different countries. Although it can be fun and allow for great friendships to be forged I felt that there are more benefits in independent travel in terms of privacy and flexibility..
Still, I'd appreciate some advice to help me kick-start my research in the right direction. Although I value the freedom of independent travel in Africa I'd still like to follow a route and have some support along the way. Preferably I'd like a route through part of South Africa, Namibia and Botswana (or just SA and Namibia depending on time constraints).
Thus far I've been able to find a company called "Bushlore Africa" (bushlore.com) who cater to self driven overlanding. If there's anyone on the forum who has first hand experience working with a company of this sort (who rent out top notch fully kitted safari vehicles) please do let me know. I don't have a specific budget; really looking to work with a high end company who have the best equipment and services.
Also, apologies if this question has been already posted (and answered); I did do a site search but may have missed it in the sea of info out there..
Trip dates: December 20 - January 10-ish...
Looking forward to a great (and much needed) adventure in Africa : )
