I placed my order for the trailer today.

That sounds like a great options list. I like that you were able to get spring over from the factory. Any options for shocks? Although you probably don't need them with the factory 3500lb springs. What about a tongue jack/dolly?

What's this "7 pin harness w/ HOTWIRE support"? Any details for the Hotwire piece?

The coupler, I assume, is one of the types that uses two bolts to secure it withing a vertical channel?

My personal commitments have eased slightly, so let me know if you still need help this weekend. I'll be around and able to sneak out for short periods of time with a kid in tow (he loves trailers too).

Regarding shocks. They did not offer any option for shocks installed at the factory. They said they never get the request. So, any shock mod will have to be made by me and a friend with a welder.

The Hotwire is a fused, trickle charge capability that can maintain any 12v capability on the trailer. I was told the hotwire capability is a feature of any 7 pin harness and only needs to be fused on the vehicle side.

I'm not sure exactly how the coupler bolts up, but I was told it is (2) grade 8 bolts. I tried to get a receiver tube style coupler setup on the trailer, but like shocks, they were not aware of a way to offer this.

Good job on the jack. That will be more stout than a bolted on unit. And you can easily bolt on a wheel if it doesn't come that way so that you can roll the trailer around.

Alright, I understand about the Hotwire, though I've never heard it called that before. A lot of full size vehicles that come with a towing package may already have the fused 12V lead at the back of the truck. My last two trucks have had it, and my Dad's newer Nissan has it, so it might be easier than you think.

I still think it would be cool to add one of these to the trailer? Looks like it would fit perfectly on that trailer with an overall dimension of 5'x6'-5" and still allow room for gear. But I guess you're more interested in just storage space.

That is a very interesting kit to use as a slide on with the trailer. But you're right. I'd be giving up a great deal of potential storage space to carry that unit.

Plus, the system does not indicate how one would install/remove the unit.

I put one of those on a frame. It is a little small on the inside. I sold it in Kansas, owner used it for several months, then sold it again, but in Maine.

Interior is quite small and with it folded up for travel, even smaller for carrying items.

It might be possible to run this camper unit higher on the trailer, with the bottom level with the top of the 24" steel sides, preserving a great deal of storage below the camping unit. Depending on the weight, maybe the entire unit could be made to hinge to allow access to the storage area below.
