News van rack/plateform needing to mount on a 93' Suburban

Ok been racking my head and have been around here for a year or so looking into ideas and stuff to use toward my 93' 1500 4x4 Suburban. And alot of you guys have had a lot of great ideas in which I've used or plan on using. Well came upon my first problem that I can't find a good answer for, got a rack/plateform free from a friend off of a news van which he bought. Well it was prefect for what I wanted to do just never knew it was as big as it was.

I need ideas of how to mount this rack on top of my suburban without cutting the rack to fit. The rack is made of aluminum so welding to the top is not first idea. Need help my fellow brothers and sisters.

Talking about mounting news rack to stock rack, or in place of the stock rack?
How heavy is the news rack?
How heavily will it be loaded?
Will to drill additional holes in your suburban roof?
How's your fabrication skills?

I'd suggest replacing the factory rack. And fashion a bottom rail (out of flat stock) for the news rack that conforms to the Suburban's roof line, passing over the stock rack holes in the roof. That will distribute the weight the best and allow installation without making permanent mods to the suburban
