Just a friendly question, for what is supposed to be a friendly community, that is all. I find it cute that you jump my case, but not crane's. ignored

So, does anyone know? I can look, but I don't know much between the different models for Jeeps.

Ha ha, really guy??

Why all the Fiat harshin? We love ours. Interested to see the new Renegade.

There is a tool for every job fellas.

BTW you know the OP is just stirring the pot...
We're a Jk and FIAT household here.
The FIAT holds the road like Velcro; the Jeep tames the trail like Randolph Scott on steroids eating a Cabela's sandwich while beating up Chuck Norris after he ate 4 whole bugs from Starship Troopers.

Aluminum body and a more aerodynamic shape maybe? Lower ground clearance... lol
I don't think it's actually going to change. The wrangler has a very faithful fan base and chrysler (well, fiat I guess.) wouldn't want to loose that.
I wish they would go back to their root and make a smaller and more affordable vehicule. It's too expensive for what it is right now.

I was part of a focus group last week that talked a lot about what we would want in an off road vehicle and what looks were important to convey that a vehicle was capable off road. The screen shots I posted earlier were from that focus group. I was never told who the company was that had paid for the group but all 6 of us were Jeep owners (2 libertys, 1 grand cherokee, 1 trail hawk, 2 JKs). It was an interesting experience and I would love to participate in another one in the future. What was a little painful was that I was the only one that spent much time off road.

We're doomed.

It's interesting that their focus group used the Troller T4 as an example. It's encouraging that they have their eyes on this obscure (in the U.S.) yet directly comparable Wrangler competitor, but it's disconcerting that you were the only 4 wheeler in your focus group. Let's hope yours wasn't the only focus group they held.

Why would Jeep waste any effort designing a Wrangler for people who don't need a Jeep? The wanna-be's will buy Wranglers no matter what, just for the image; in contrast, 4 wheelers won't buy Jeep's vehicles if they lose their number-1 defining feature: the Wrangler's benchmark-setting off-road capability. If Jeep loses the support of the core 4 wheeler market, then Jeeps lose their image and then the wanna-be's won't be any more interested in a Jeep than they are in every other competitor from Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, etc. This would be akin to Bugatti no longer focusing on building the world's most outlandish hypercar, and wasting resources on focus groups to design their next Toyota Camry competitor. The world doesn't want a homogenized Bugatti any more than it wants a homogenized Jeep Wrangler.

There are plenty of other faux-by-fours out there, including several that already wear a Jeep badge. Let the Wrangler be a Wrangler!

couldn't agree more

Just look at the suv market for along time it was body on frame ( usually truck type frames) the vehicles had high and low range and sometimes other features. gradually as the families purchased them and they then became soccer mom replacement cars for minivans they softened lost low range lost solid axles got fat and lower. Just look at the bronco or even more pathetic trace the nissan pathfinder evolution. The great thing about most jeeps and especially the wrangler is they didn't follow suit. I hope that fiat recognizes this otherwise jeeps may go the way of the dinosaur. so maybe fiat willed this, maybe they will get the idea that that Jeep is different than the euros.

It would be neat to get the Troller here....
3.2L diesel, ~350 foot pounds of torque, 6 speed manual, good approach and departure angles.

As long as you can put 35s on it, I think most everybody will still buy a Wrangler.
