in contrast, 4 wheelers won't buy Jeep's vehicles if they lose their number-1 defining feature: the Wrangler's benchmark-setting off-road capability.

That would be like an H2 then, wouldn't it? Aren't they dinosaurs now? They look adventurous to the point of being gawdy, but lack any bite to go with the bark.

Exactly. Hummers have become a total joke, whereas Jeeps (and in particular, the Wrangler) are still revered because they are the real deal.
