How to start your truck if the starter motor packs up.

1. Jack up one rear wheel
2. Release handbrake
3. Put it into 8th Gear
4. Wrap a strap around the wheel and pull like mad.

I've seen it done, but never done it. I'd have used the other vehicle in the background to pull the strap... It would have been easier.

In praise of clutches..... Today everything built in North America would leave you stranded.

I saw a video recently(here??) of a guy doing it with a lug wrench on the wheel. Once the vehicle started the wheel got to Mach one and launched the wrench, just about took his head off!

I think the idea was to show how you could start it without another vehicle, if you were stuck by yourself.

I carry a spare starter. It was balky in 40+C summer temperatures. Ok now in 25C. It’s either the relay (mounted on the starter) or the solenoid.
Have to change it before putting it back on the boat.
A bit of a PITA to change.

Yep you spotted the obvious. However you can disengage the rear parking brakes if locked on.
