Noob Shock Question

Hey there,
Love reading about everyone's vehicle setups on here. My question is a basic one. I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma TRD. It is time for new shocks. In reality, most of my miles are on-road, a lot of snow driving, forest service roads in the summer, and occasional off-road. My question is should I spend the extra money to get Bilstein shocks (like came with the TRD package) or just have the shop put on some generic shocks? I don't want garbage on there but again, I very seldom get off the pavement with my truck.
Thanks for any input!

Remember that the shocks also keep your vehicle under control and comfortable while barreling down the highway at redonkulous speeds. If your shocks are bad, I wouldn't skimp on a cheap replacement. Besides, I think some Bilsteins come with a limited lifetime warranty

What am I gaining if I pay extra for Bilstein shocks instead of just having something middle-of-the-road put on?

thanks

I'll go ahead and recommend Old Man Emu. The ride is very nice and you can get them in different levels of firmess. I've had mine for more than 70k miles and they are still riding nice.

I'd do a quick check with one of the toyota dealers/site vendors either here or on MUD....they might be able to get you the OEM billies for a pretty decent price.
