my roof rack, roof box and roof mounted awning are all painted black, so I'll guess my ladder must be painted black also.

The ladder:

I was thinking about painting this black but I'm still a little afraid to do this so it will be like this for now.

The roof box is also gone for now, I want to make a roof rack so I can fit my canoe and create an attachment to the TV antenna.

About 1 month ago the van got a full paint job, everything was removed, all rust was taken and my van got new fresh original red paint with clearcoat on top :D

Some mobil photos from the workshop.

Sorry, no photos showing.

You will need to post the link directly to the jpg file, not to the forum they are on. The forum requires a login to see those images.

Killer to see someone from over the pond adding in!!!

Very cool build, keep posting, I've messed around and researched Toyota vans online to try and do the same thing, great to see someone doing it!
BTW, what a cool trail rig!!!!
Cheers and keep up the good work.

Well, finally done some more.
Extra generator mounted, only task to this is to keep my leisure batterys fully charged.
Two generators and four battery in two seperate systems is also a nice safety on long trips, it's easy to hook up if one of the generators blow.

I have also changed the two 75Ah lead accid batterys to two 100Ah AGM batterys. It's not only bigger, but with a traditionally battery you most not use more that 50% of it's capacity. Use more and you destroying your battery pretty fast.
With a AGM battery you can use up to 80% of it's capacity without problem.
So now I have 160Ah to use, before I had 75Ah to use, A major improvement.

The old battery setup.

The voltmeter to my extra generator.

And my battery monitor. Here I was testing how deep I could go before my battery guard on the coolbox switch off power, works very well.

Here I'm ready for a little trip summer 2010. Everything works great, just need some new bigger tires (I had to try these original tires again :Wow1: It was terrible)
1280574074_resized.jpg

Future plans?
Change the roof lights to 10w LED flood light, now I have a 55w halogen rear and a 10w regular bulb on right side.
Bigger tires...just a little bigger
A refrigerator instead of coolbox.
A new car stereo.

Just need more time to use it..

They have a new LED110 serie out now.
This one would fit nicely on my van.

Last week I test a new HiAce 4wd, build with a new transfer from arctic trucks in Norway.
The transfer was special build with 2wd, 4wd centerdiff open, 4wd centerdiff locked, nautral and 4wd lowrange with centerdiff locked.
Worked very well nut was way to expensive.
About 9500$ !!!!

They can also fix a ARB locker rear, not so expensive but no way, my van will never be a offroader anyway.

The Hiace 4wd are nice and good, but there are not many in Spain

You know, being in the US I've never seen a Toyota van that I liked the looks of. This thread changes that.

Why don't they sell these over here? So much better than what they have been offering.
