well I got the prop bar installed that will hold the pop up door up when camping.. I used the other pop up extension bar that goes inside the canvas usually(hey it was free since I had it)

then we got slide out finished and secured, attched outside edge of canvas to slide and made the support bars for slide out..

put the futon mattress in and needed to test it to make sure it could handle the weight of my 2 year old so My 70 year old dad hoped in(and almost fell asleep)

yup it works :)

tomorrow night I will be working on getting velcro finished for sides of canvas
and water sealing the big door

here is my dad

quick price break down for people that wonder.

camper = Free
pop up = $100 for bed parts
trailer = $800
trailer parts = $400 ( jack, neck, etc)
wiring = $100
new Maxxis tires = $600
registration(DMV) = $100
misc = $100

so guess is around $2200

but I did sell my 16ft trailer and a HP dana 60 front axle, that totaled = 2300 so I am doing fine atleast in wifes eyes :)

of course I still need to do more like build driver over fenders.. but I already have the steel so there should not be much more cost added tot he above

Dude... I am pretty sure we are on the same forums, as I have seen that XJ everywhere... (Gargeforum, Naxja, Here...) Anyway... thats a crap load of work. Nicely done I really like the camper/trailer on a budget idea. When I first saw the picture of that rusty old 36 foot gooseneck, im thinking WHY?? To see it all come together though, its a job well done. Nice Power Ram too!!

hahahaha.. Ya I recognize your user id :)

your reaction: (WHY??) is usually what I get from some of my friends until they see the finished product they usually do not understand :)

Nice build!
I had this general idea back in 2000 and I'm sure that I'm not the first to think of it. Nice to see someone go for it and that it doesn't look anywhere near as hokey as I was told that it would. :sombrero:

I will admit I am not the 1st to put a bed camper on a trailer .. but I have not seen any others take a 5th wheel and cut it up to make trailer and then put bed camper on that :)
