Replacement for lights came in tonight and they also received a yellow tint to add contrast against snow. To those who aren't familiar with yellow lights- the term is called 'frenching' lights. The tint is a self adhesive variety I found on Amazon with a few stars and was quite affordable. I had ordered led lights for the fog lights, but the units were simply too large for the housings.

Got these off Ebay and spent around $140 for the pair. The quality seems to be very good upon first inspection.

Does anyone have any guidance or experience with an auxiliary fuel tank on a gen 2.5? Also curious if any here have put in a permanent water tank for either drinking water or gray water (non drinking water) under the body?

I'm also looking to build a roof rack for the car and am now searching for inspiration. Please offer up any guidance/advice!

Also on the topic of interior, a stinky and nasty interior can be fixed with new or washed carpet, washed panels, and deep clean seats. But with a smoky interior, the best way to remove all the smell is all of the above plus clean behind every panel and up inside the dash. You sometimes see the spider like patterns from the smoke behind door panels. But with new carpet, seats, and headliner, you'll likely get 90% of it or more.
I would recommend you drop the blower motor(3 screws?) then blow compressed air through vents to remove more ash and also try to vacuum or blow out the evaporator if you can see it. These cars dont have cabin filters so they can get gross. Then i'd borrow or buy ($70 for cheap one) an ozone generator, they do wonders for residual odors. Run in in the truck and turn AC on (heat and AC) every couple hours for a bit. Then it should be pretty much odor free

Made a little more progress today. Rest of the interior (sans dash and door cards) are out. Ripped off old headliner and glued down the new material. You will need 3 yards of 70" wide headliner at the very least.

Was a little limited with color options for the all in one type of foam backed head liner fabric. My MR2 has a more custom approach to the interior. I need to finish that project this year as I miss driving around in that car.

Not sure how I feel about the diamond stitching-but man that headliner looks great with the tan piping

brad2274: thanks for the tip about the vents and evap! Do you know if it's possible to retrofit a cabin filter into the Gen 2.5 Montero? My 2003 Galant didn't come w/ one either, but it has the sealed compartment for a filter and is easy to retrofit (an aside to the aside: post-99 8g Galants also got rid of their spin-on trans filters so I've been using an in-line one, but haven't added one to my Monty).

Thanks for the compliments on the MR2! It's a year into an engine swap that required a fair bit of welding and nearly half way finished overall.

Well, as I was starting to reinstall the headliner and fiddling around with some insulation, I realized I needed to upholster the sun shade on the sunroof! Well, project on pause for a few days while I (wife) figures out what fabric I'd (she'd) like to use. Likely something fun/different I would imagine.

I'm anxious to make some progress on this over the weekend! Free small projects to work on in addition to the interior install.

Well- after really examining the sun shade and what was involved in the removal of the assembly- decided to just try my hand at cleaning the existing fabric. Plenty of compressed air, fabric cleaning spray (lysol or generic fabreeze of some sort) will be the first treatment... Hopefully a few cleaning sessions will sort the smell out.

Made a bit of progress today putting things back together. The carpet looks good and the colors well be a good compliment to some black seats with a few select accent colors I think.

Also made a decision to remove and sell the rear third row seats. We will have a drawer system or some sort of semi-permanent storage solution back there.

Hey Everybody!

I'm ZeroDrift's wife. I cleaned the middle seats of the 2.5 last night. They were sooo bad. I took some before and after pictures. I don't always take photos, (as I'm usually focused on a goal), but when I do... It's becuase the cleaner changes color from dark blue to light blue/white!

I think the scrubbing bubbles may work better, but I wanted to try this one once.

Yes there is a way to retrofit one, if you use advanced search with word "cabin" or "dust" i think you'll find the post about it. One of the southwest members on here cut a hole and added one to reduce all the dust getting in his mont out in the desert.
