Not very many Grand Cherokee WK's??

but it just looks....... Wrong.... To me anyway

REALLY? Looking through just this WK thread alone, there are some amazing builds on here.

I think the WK looks are massively improved when prepped for overland use. When we're out and about and see another WK, we think the standard WK looks really different.

I'll add some pics from my albums:

From our Jeep's second Iceland trip in August 2014:

I can't mention the waterfall without adding a pic, VERY windy, wind warnings in place, my daughters wouldn't get out of the Jeep it was so windy.

Beatifull pics indeed. In my comment, I never ever second thought the ability of the vehicle.

My response was my opinion towards the question that started this thread. I never would have freely shared my thoughts or anything negative if this thread was about built WKs or the likes.

Thank you. Yeah, no problem I acknowledge that. For some (many?) Maybe the WK is thought of being an odd choice for expo purposes.

The stance and wheel spacing is perfect. I was looking at my Jeep yesterday, in behind the tires and wheels and I am pretty sure I can remove the spacers with only slight modifications. I still wish I had gone for the 255 and not the 265, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

This isn't an overlanding post since we didn't drive off road and stayed in a rented beach house but I thought I would post in case anyone is thinking of buying a wk. We just returned from driving our 2010 3.7 WK on a 2350 mile round trip from Northern Mass. To Southern South Carolina and back. The Jeep was flawless, averaged over 19 mpg loaded down and with bikes on the roof with the cruise set at 78 mph most of the way. The Jeep held 4 people and all of our stuff with no problem. Most impressive was that after driving 13 hours almost non stop the leather Laredo X seats were still comfortable and there was very little fatigue.

But relevant in that 90% of the time in America to get to the Overlanding spot you have got to run highway or interstate....there is no doubt the WK can cruise comfortably at 70+mph while still getting the job done off road...that is key in my mind in an Expedition Vehicle in America.

It had the Quadra Tech II system with 4LOW. Had I known at the time I would have gotten the Quadra Drive II system with the elockers front and rest.

How many mpg does the rack cost?

A lot. I got about 23mpg on a long highway trip with the rack on and the rally bike on the hitch carrier, and I can't attribute all of that to the bike.

Me too; I was a bit disappointed. But overall it is still a great travel vehicle and still gets about 10mpg better than the LR3 that preceded it.
