Nother Trailer Build

Hello all, I am new here. I signed up after reading the congo thread and since I am building a trailer I thought why not do a build thread.

Anyway, here are a few pics. I just did the frame today and I am waiting on 2x1 tube to do more. It was supposed to be deliverd yesterday, arg...

The front and back are open but covered on top. The middle is enclosed with three compartments. The side compartments will be accessed from a door above the tire. The middle compartment will be accessed from a door on the rear.

I drew it up before doing much research on what companies are offering. I can see mine came out a bit different, but we will see if it works well. I need to possibly skin the front or put a removable something up there to keep mud and dirt off the jugs and what not, but other than that, I think it will work.

Quick specs:

4x6.5 tub
4x3.5 enclosed area
3x2x.120 tube for the frame
2x1x.083 for other supports
14ga for the roof and floor
16ga for the sides

I made a little more progress today. I am just about ready to skin it and make the doors.

I still need to get the axle on and find some tires to run, maybe I will buy new wheels and tires for my jeep and use the ones that are on there now for the trailer.

That is a good question. I wanted the top to be fixed because I knew I would be hauling stuff or possibly getting a roof top tent.

Then I got to thinking how it would be nice to have some quick to access things and the only way planned was to get at stuff from the back, but if the back is hauling a cooler or some other items I would have to remove it all to get something out.

After consdering the thought of unpacking to get at certain stuff I decided I would have side doors to keep some things easily accessible and have a main compartment to house things like a tent, chairs, etc..

I still wanted the back area for things that shouldnt' be packed inside like a little firewood I pick up on the way, garbage, etc....

After I designed it I started to poke around at other designs. I seen that a lot of people just use the tongue for outside storage and everything else is packed inside. I wasn't totally sure that was for me, so at the expensive of redesigning it all, I thought it was good enough to run with it.

I am interested to see how it turns out, and how all your compartments work for you on a trip. So far it looks like it's a pretty solid trailer!
