Thanks! I am second guessing myself on the gearing department though. I haven't bought any gears but does anyone think that 3.73 is too tall for a 37" tire?

Depends on the use.

For this type of powerplant, I'd usually opt for a taller gearset to get out to the trail - there's still a crapton of usable torque from a 6BT, even at low rpm's, for trail use.

Also depends on what the split is for 1st gear, if that's a low sucker then I have no issues running taller axle gearing.

Here are the Allison ratios 3.10 1.81 1.41 1.00 0.71 No plans to tow much at all but there will be some mountain driving and plenty of offroad

If I went with 4.10 gears, 1800rpm would be 69mph. That seems doable too. I don't imagine needing to go faster than that.

Made some progress on redoing the 4 link today. I set the axle at a 120" wheelbase and started playing around on the 4 link calculator. Ended up with about 80% anti squat with this setup.

If anyone has any input on spring rates I would love to hear it.

Joe,

I have run RPM calculators until I almost passed out and 4.10 definitely seems to be the sweet spot for a 37" tire cruising at normal highway speeds. if you are in a construction zone or the like, you can always shift into fifth. A friend has a 6.7L in a 2500 and it will cruise at 1200 rpm with 35's no problem. That is an empty stock Ram though.

6B is happy from 1600 - 1900 rpm, so if you can stay around those numbers, you should be good for power and MPG.

Ahh suspension calculators, spent so many hours punching in numbers while building my 4x4 buggy, I feel sorry for you.

Yeah it makes my head spin a bit. Luckily it wasn't far off. I just shortened the upper arms and redid the frame mounts. Didn't mess with the axle mounts.

Today I got the camper box back on the frame and mocked it up in the location it will eventually mount. Then I trimmed off some of the back of the frame and fabbed a bumper with recovery points and a hitch receiver. I had some 3"x5"x.187" tubing left over from a project I did so I used that. I have a really good looking departure angle now and plenty of room above the tire for suspension travel. The truck is pictured at what will be ride height. I have about 6" of travel up from there and hoping to have 6" of droop travel if I can package a spring and shock with enough travel. I'm looking into some custom wound coil springs and some KING shocks.
