OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

Helpppp!! When checking under the bed I noticed a loose wire... not sure if it fell out of the little white connection box since I only see a red wire going into it.. anyone know if there is a red wire and black wire that should be going into that white box thingy?
Best I can tell from your photos, the black wire should be going into that little white connection box. In your photos it doesn't look like you have a black wire going into that box. I see the red wire coming out of the conduit going into that box, but I can't tell if that conduit also has a black wire. See my photos. My conduit ends further down and both the red and black wires are coming from it and go into that box. This white box seems to be related to the Truma control panel. I have much thinner wires coming out of that box on the top and going over to the Truma control panel.

Yea we definitely don't have a black wire going into that white panel. I'll see how I can get it back in there

I have been told that OBI is selling factory direct. All you guys have demonstrated these trailers are generally well built and a great deal for handy folks who can fix issues especially priced under 30k.

Question is would you advice anyone to throw down on a 2024 D15 for 60k purchase directly from OBI?
Our budget was 35k-40k and under. Wanted to be under 35k. If we had 50k+ to spend I'd go with MDC waayyy before OBI. I wanted to MDC XT12HR... better features and components than the dweller and actually 4 season not like 3 season dweller.

The 2024 XT12HR are 65k. Ouch
Not sure where you are located, but there is a dealership in Florence, Oregon that had a Dweller 15 for around $35,000.00, a couple weeks ago. the only kicker was, it does not come with a warranty. I think there was some previous damage and they have to sell them at a discounted price. I believe the unit is brand new and the damage has been repaired. We paid $35,000.00 for our 15 in Oregon. The dealership just wanted to dump it because of the terrible customer service from Obi.
Just keep in mind, Obi, does not have a factory, they just have a warehouse where they do a few things to them and send off to the dealerships. obi, is very small, no technical support and it is very difficult to order parts, because they rarely answer their emails or phone line. The kid that runs the shop is only 27 ish. Do not let them fool you into thinking they are a large company, because they are not. They have virtually no customer support and are going client direct because dealers are dumping them. That being said the Dweller product is pretty solid. Just their customer support is NOT. This site is very helpful though, which has been a blessing. Good luck.

No substantial enough differences between MDC and OBi to make one 3 or 4 season and the other not.

OBI, MDC, Black Series, Opus are all imported from China. Zero American factories.

Story time.

Bought my Dweller from Fun Town RV in Giddings, Texas in the summer of 2022. I loved it the day I bought it. I still love it today. It isn't perfect. But no trailer is. I knew that, I'm cool with it. Got the standard 1 year warranty. Skylight opened and functioned as designed. Winter of 2022/2023, our seasonal rain returned. Like so many others, my skylight over the bed leaked a little bit. No big deal, really.

May of 2023, schedule an appointment for warranty work. Take a day off work. Tell them I can not leave my trailer overnight. Need the batteries tested, jack replaced and the water leak on the roof identified. Drop it off at 8am, and stay in town. Fast forward to 6pm of that same day, and it's ready for me to pickup. Most concerns moderately addressed (long story), but they said they couldn't identify a water leak. Cool, that's odd. But whatever.

Interestingly enough, post warranty appointment, my camper never ever leaked rain in, ever again. Not once. Even in very hard downpours. Guess it fixed itself? Lol, more on that.
Several times between May of 2023 and March of 2024, I'd attempted to open my skylight, but couldn't. I didn't think much of it, because I didn't care a lot. It was getting deleted for an A/C unit anyways, so it didn't matter. I only tried to open it a few times to air out the trailer in the driveway.

March of 2024 (last night, actually). I go to remove the skylight to get a cross section of the roof and design for my Air Conditioner adapter. Guess what I found....
🤡
The idiots at Fun Town RV sealed my skylight shut. No, I'm not kidding. See pictures below. Guess this explains both why I couldn't open it, AND why it never leaked.

Fun Town RV produced a video on the Dwellers and stated that they were manufactured in AZ and not shipped over in a crate like other Chinese made rigs. I let them know they were wrong and the never replied. Seem like a cheesy outfit

You guys have proven these are solid rigs with some issues but so much less cost then MDC. Which by they way is not straight forward on the Chinese mfg fact as well.

I bought my 13' from Fun town in Giddings in July '23. They are clueless. I'm curious to see how your A/C install goes. Please share your approach!

Consider yourself lucky. It looks like they missed a couple of spots. :)

Anyone, know where to pick up a couple of those "triangle bolts" that help keep the roof down when collapsed ? The front driver side one has cracked.
Obi, will not return my email questions.

Thx,

Feel free to DM or find me on Facebook. I also have a D13 with lots of mods. Might can save you some heartache.
