Off road pop up trailer?

Do NOT use ATV or Tractor Tires on the highway at highway speeds. As was said it is dangerous and they are illegal to do so.
I been wanting to lift a older pop-up for a while. I planned on using Jeep wheels and tires too. I am putting a set of 15x8 Canyons with 235-75-15's on a lil Coleman utility trailer now along with building a boxed frame for it, but width and height or not an issue with it. How wide is the box on your trailer? It looks narrow enough to outboard the wheels and tires.

Thats the problem. The things like 76 inches wide. Sits about as wide as my wheel and tire combo stick out. I just got my tax returns today. $1,300. Dont know if I should get wild with this thing or save the money for traveling. I found 67" (hubface to hubface) complete kits from northerntool for $200 shipped. That would put my wheels and tires pretty much flush with the fenders and give me all new bearings, hubs, and upgrade to regular leaf's, not the stupid slipper springs it has now. On a side note, I found some camp sites out in Cali. are expensive. Im used to $12 a night, but I was looking at some on the coast and it was like $45 a night!!! Is thats what its like in Yosimite and Tahoe too? I was thinking planning on wheelin my way to the ocean and find my own campsite. A ticket would be cheaper than camping, haha.

In Central Texas it's not a heater issue. It's heat in general. Handbrake has basically told me no a/c = no trailer. I've found several pop-ups that I like but no a/c. Do the indoor swamp coolers really work that well?

Oh and whats AC? Haha. My truck dosent have it either. Guess Ill find how hot it can be the hard way out west. Guess that means I will have to stay near water

Well, I just scored 5 Alloy Jeep wheels with 32's for $50. All but 2 of the tires have plugs in them. So lucky me! I got wheels. I think I am going to have to ditch the 32's and find something smaller. But I am going to wait till my axle comes in and I will see what I can work out. I have no problem cutting up the fender wells in order to make room for big tires. The way they built this trailer is stupid simple so taking out the stock fender is a nothing process. The only problem with doing that is it will take up some more interior space by pushing up the fenders. But I have alot as it is so possibly 32's........Do you think there will be a noticeable difference in towing it? I dont want my gas mileage to suffer any more than it is because of this.

Where did you order that axel? Looking good. Also, are you keeping all 5 jeep wheels? What bolt pattern?

Northerntool for the axle assembly. Good price for all you get. Only keeping 2 and gonna try to sell the others for like $10 a piece to recoop what I paid.

So I got alot of work done on the trailer today. I cut out the sides and fender well's so I can get the 32's under there. Looks really good. I am very happy with how it came out. I will get pics asap. I am going to use my stock Tacoma fender trim on the trailer. It will bolt right on and clean up the edge from where I cut it. Its going to look factory fresh.

A little suggestion I might make is to look inside the trailer on top of the wheel wells for any wires that have been routed there. I just finished rewiring a popup that had routed it's main harness along the top of the wheel well on the entry side. Owner had a bad blowout and the tire cut through the wheel well and proceeded to catch the wire and pull most of it out of the trailer. I couldn't believe how much wire was wrapped around the tire when I got my hands on the trailer. This is the 4th time I have seen this same thing happen on popups running adult sized tires.

Let us know haw your axle install goes. also let us know what bolt circle you are using and if you have any trouble getting the Jeep wheels to fit onto the hubs of the trailer axle.

Glad to hear that you are making progress with your pop top.
