Hooked the trailer up and towed it around the block. Mission successful, towed great!

Finished the fenders. Latches are done. Axle is bolted on. Here is what I have left for fabrication:

Side steps (in front of and behind the fenders)
Awning lifts/mounts
Skid plate/mounts for the water tank
Light mounts

Hoping to get the trailer home next week so I can start working on the water tank connections, painting, bed liner, & new wheels (should be here tomorrow to match the Jeep).

Awning mounts are finished, light mounts are finished, matching wheels/tires are mounted & side steps are complete. Temporarily wired up the lights for the tow home!

Got the tent fitted and mounted to the top.

Put a 4x4 block under the front and back of the tent to maneuver it into the correct location.







Measured the location for the furthest front hole and furthest rear hole on each side. Ran a chalk line from hole to hole. Then used the brackets to mark the second hole for the front and rear brackets.





Here is the tent mounted. Going to pull it off and start painting!

Almost finished with the POR15 base coat. Have at least two coats everywhere. Some spots have 3-4 coats. Took almost 3 quarts total. I would definitely recommend spending significant time prepping. I spent a bunch of time prepping and still have a few spots that I'm not super impressed with. Overall, I would definitely use the product again. Very easy to apply - just make sure you wear gloves and buy the POR15 brand solvent.

Next up is sealing some of the joints, then applying top coat & bed liner.

Truck bed liner applied. Decided to use Herculiner. It really is an amazing product. Once again, go overkill on the prep. I did and am super impressed with how it applied to the base coat.

I coated the entire exterior except the back of the trailer with the Herculiner. I have the tent and awnings mounted as well. More pictures to come!

Tent and awnings are mounted. Once I have the lights wired I’ll work on getting a VIN assigned and registration. Then I’ll add all the little nice to haves!

Are those Destaco latches or just similar brand. I have a few I purchased for my project. Some large, some small. All are stainless. How do you like them? I like how they adjust, they look like they should work well.

I’m curious how well they work in this application since it’s not necessarily pulling the door into the trailer, rather it’s just holding it in place. It is what I had planned to do as well, which is why I am so curious.

The large latches on the back are Powertec 20306 latches. I really like them except for not being able to lock or pin them. They cinch the door closed rather than just holding it in place.

The latches on the front doors are made by Phansthy and are the 550lb capacity latches. They cinch the doors closed as well and can be pinned. The little hole is too small to put a decent lock on. If I were to do it again I would have done the next size larger.

All of the latches are very much adjustable which is nice. I’ll have to weld on some brackets so I can lock everything up. Not sure when or if I’ll get around to it...

Looks like they are unavailable on Amazon. I used the 15” travel for all three jacks. In hind sight, I would use the 15” travel for the two rear stabilizers and the 10” for the tongue (for the purpose of adding a 6” caster wheel). The 10” is still available on Amazon.

Added a couple goodies on the driver’s side. Also finished wiring the brakes and lights. Hoping to order the battery and power converter this weekend.

I used Quick Fist mounts for the axe and shovel. The shovel needed a combo of the classic mount and one of the mini mounts. The axe used two of the classic mounts.



Mounted a one gallon (5lb) Manchester propane tank for the Partner two burner stove using a Powertank BKT-2285 mount. The mount was expensive and I really like it - except for not being able to lock the tank to it.
