Off Road Trailer w/roof top tent

I keep looking and thinking and looking and thinking!

You mention that it is a 3500# axle. Did you put a cambered or non-cambered axle under it?

With the leaf springs how did it handle on washboard type roads? What weight rating are the springs?

If I were to decide, could you meet half way between where you are and Tucson?

I would have to bring my own wheels/tires and hubs as I am running 6 on 5.5. It would have to be somewhere that we could make that swap easily.

Why can't you just swap when you get thet trailer back home??? I did not see anything about his not wanting to sell the tires et all.

If you are currently on the road for an extended time, why not pick up the trailer and then get the hubs tires and wheels where it would be easy to do the swap, after you have already got the trailer?

Just a thought...

in the listing it does say that he's not including the 35in tires or wheels. he is throwing in a set of different wheels, but no tires.

Exactly, it will already be a stretch for me to buy, so why spend extra money on tires also? Probably only take an hour to swap the hubs anyway, if that!

Wow, hey, very sorry about that. I did not see that in there. Too bad. Sure seems like a nice looking trailer. Good luck getting it, and sorry for sticking my nose in...

No worries, I hadn't noticed that at first either. It just so happens I have been wanting to build a trailer and already have wheels and tires bought so I might as well use them!:wings:

A couple of questions for you:

Does the tent have a full rain fly?
How has it performed in a heavy rain? (If you've had it out in the rain?)

How close to the Canadian border would you be willing to drive it?
I used google maps, and it's 23.5 hours one way to Colorado Springs. If I was headed anywhere near that area, it would be a possibility... but I'm not...

I guess I should watch this thread more often. I do not have a rain fly for it and I have only had it out in light showers. It did fine then. A 12 hour drive is a long ways to meet up half way.

It is a non cambered axle. The springs were 3000lbs springs but I pulled all but two leafs out of the pack to soften up the load. It handles just fine when it is loaded, empty it will bounce a bit but I didn't play around with the tire pressure any and I'm sure that would make a difference.

If you want to swap out hubs on the side of the road that would be fine but I can get some stock jeep rims and tires to put on the trailer so that you can get it home. The 35's on it now are not mine so they cant go with the trailer. It will have some type of tires on it, I don't want to make it impossible to sell.

I might be willing to meet you in Albuque..???? for a bit extra.

Winch Wench I might be willing to meet you in St. Louis for a lot extra. Thats a long haul:smiley_drive:
