I'd go the van route, less to mod, looks nicer than some homebuilt roof monster, ought to be some aftermarket support for it.

Solve the van 'heat' issue with an upgraded radiator core and improved shrouding and electric fans. I'd go so far as to add some ducted fans in the radiator support just to flow outside air into the engine compartment, besides the radiator fans.

If you want a jeep type platform why not something like the Earthroamer XV-JP? http://earthroamer.com/employees-facilities/previous-designs/xv-jp/

I`m on a budget ...buying such type vehicle is impossible to me ...
And , I like to create from my own hands ....
This van is seriously so clean , I just cant pass on this project !

Update : after hours of search & discussions , Ill keep the 351W MPFI for now ......changing the cam , long tube headers , dual exhaust , and probably either GT40`s or ported & shaved originals heads .....I should gain on both torque & fuel economy !
The powerstroke is not that economical to run !

Still looking for best candidate to convert to 4x4 .....
I think best would be to find a 351W F series 4x4 with E4OD with harness & 3;73 or 4:10 gears + posi !

I`m not planning to do any extreme trails ....just more traction !

thanks ,

Dan

There was a gent posting in the 4wd Van section about switching the nice body from one 2wd van onto the chassis of a 4wd van. Made things simple for his conversion.

Another thought, the van is already TTB. You could perhaps ad the Dana 50 TTB from an earlier 90's F250 4x4? I don't know this to work for sure, but the mounting is already present.

this is my new concern , would it fit directly ? switch twin axle beam to twin traction beam .....

It would be so simple and id keep the coil spring suspension ....

anyone knows ?
