Oils?? need advice...

Ok so After Moab I have "sprung" a few leaks..
Transmission (Auto) and rear Diff..

Due to driving all over the place is there a better choice for Oils than stock?
I know JKs are known for their "hot" transmission oil temps, and the Diff oil needs replaced and the cover hammered out.
So this wekend I taking care of both.
Got the new tranny pan and seal, diff seal and a big damn hammer, but the choice of oils is still up in the air!

Synthetic? Reg?

In my 93 XJ I run moble drive clean 5000-(Blend) I change it every 2500-3000 miles.

Trans (ax15) gets Redline MTL every 15-20K.

T-case gets good ole Merc 3.

Diffs get changed every 8k or sooner depending on weither I see alot of water/mud or not.

If you have not been running syn engine oil early on I would not switch now that you have a leak...you could develop more. Changing your oil at 3K or sooner is your best bet.

JK oil

Remember that the JK is a different animal as far as fluids for the Auto Tranny.

It requires ATF+4. Castrol makes a good fluid for this. This fluid IS a synthetic and should continue to be used. Not sure if you can put any other fluid into the JK trans besides the ATF+4. I think the Trans Case calls for the ATF+4 as well.

The differentials... well the fluid choice is up to you. One thing to consider is that diff fluid can often require changing in places that may not have the most extensive fluid choices. Keep that in mind. Good luck.

my motor always gets mobile 1 10w-30, tranny just gets atf+4 not sure what kind my dad used i have yet to change mine. diffs get mobil 1 gear lube 70w-90 and everything from tranny t-case motor and diffs get a bottle of lucas oil heavy duty oil stabilizer thrown in with them. i find that everything runs smoother with it.

:sombrero: Heh Heh, well I use Mobile one 5w-30 in my 3.8L Rubi and Mopar ATF-4 for the tranny-

Just went thru a regear so I'm using Valvoline 75w-140 for the diff's-and

RainX for the windshield washer !!
