OJ Test Track Snow Run - Prescott, AZ

After being cooped up in an office all week; Chazz, Scott, and myself decided to go play in the snow. After an exchange of a few snowballs, we decided that was boring, so we went for a little trail run.

Participants: Scott Brady, Chazz and Dani Layne, Matthew Scott

Vehicles:
Scott's 1995 Land Rover Discovery
Chazz's 2004 Discovery
Matt's 1999 Jeep Wrangler

For the trail, we chose the Overland Journal Test Track. It's a really fun trail, not far from where all of us live. Most importantly it's fun, but still challenging in spots. The addition of snow made it more difficult than usual, as grip was at a minimum.

This is the first time that I went on a trail run with Scott's Discovery, I was really impressed with what his vehicle will do on the trail for how modestly it is built.

We brought a few GoPro Hero's along with us on the trip. Videos will be up later.

Thanks for the fun morning guys (and gal). I am starting to enjoy using the Disco more and leaving the heavier hardware at the office. I have to work at it!

I used a Go Pro Hero HD. Cool product, I'm going to start messing with some new ideas for it this week.

X2 on that. I much prefer my Bronco in the snow compared to my Super Duty. I was with friends cutting Christmas trees up on the rim yesterday and our transports were two Super Duties. We ended up having to do a pita recovery effort because of a trailer loaded with quads that one truck pulled along behind. Full size trucks are no fun when they're stuck.

Ok, you got me, what road is the OJ test track?

I've driven the 9405x roads with the OJ crew on at least one occasion and figure they might be what they're on in these pics/video.

That's one of the beautiful things about the Prescott area - quick access to trails. When I was growing up and we got snow, my Dad and I (who I quickly learned was as enthusiastic about heading out and breaking a trail in the snow as I was) would head out in the Bronco and do quick jaunt up Spruce Mountain (only 1-2 homes on the mountain at that time) or run up Schoolhouse Gulch Road (now closed to vehicles). Just a few minutes from home and you were in the dirt or snow.

The area where Scott and Stephanie now live was a popular area known as "the Dips". As kids, we unwittingly subjected ourselves to dehydration experiments by riding our BMX bikes there in the summer without taking any water along. Dumb, dumb, dumb :).

What have you folks done to Chazz?

I have wheeled with Chazz, and have seen him and his Disco in many different photos throughout the past couple of years (prior to him moving to Prescott, he was a bit of a neighbor). In all that time, I don't think I ever saw his Disco in a clean state. It was always in a "I just got back from a fun trip" kind of look. Now, I see pics of the November 12 BBQ and here is a pic of what looks like Chazz's Disco but it can't be, it is very clean. To compound the issue, I see pics of your snow trip, a fun looking trip, and again, I see Chazz with a clean Disco. So either Chazz has discovered photo shop or you folks have done something to my buddy, Chazz. Maybe it's the thinner air or something. Does Prescott have an clean car ordinance? Chazz, are they picking on you over there?
