Not a stupid idea at all. I'll give them a call, but the few manufacturers that I've called in the past haven't liked the idea of selling used products. Worth a try though. Thanks.

That's good to hear. Jim is a PITA to deal with, but he's not a punk like Scott. Took me waaaay to long to get my shell and the quality wasn't quite as high as I'd like.

When last I was there, there were a number of used units in the yard. If I were you, I might look at buying the basic frame used and then stripping the siding and essentially welding on a height extension and then having it re-skinned.

I had a Callen on my short bed F250 for years and now have a newer model on my long bed Dodge. Not surprisingly, I do have a few good ideas for things to do with Callens. I had cabinets put in mine above the windows in what would otherwise be dead space. I had them use a single rear door and put larger cabinets on either side of the door. If I had it to do over, I would've added reflectix or some sort of radiant barrier and more lighting all around. I did add switched for the interior switches lower where I could reach them from the ground.

As far as beds tweaking, on my F250 I put a subframe of angle between the shell and the bed. With this one, I quit screwing with it to just get Scotty to deliver. I still want to lift up the shell slide an angle iron frame under it, and maybe tie that to the bed floor.

The bed is now crosswise over top of the plastic boxes.
