I have the little red compressor and was planning on combining it with a 2.5 gallon stainless tank (old extinguisher), but have been told that its no point. I can't see that it would hurt.

Any thoughts?

2.5 gallon is really small. I've seen people use the air tanks from semi trucks and mount them under the chassis.

I run ~ a 2.5 with my York. I used to have a 5 under there, but at some point decided I wanted a smaller tank.

It helps keep the compressor from cycling a bunch. Granted for me running the air system in the Jeep (AiRock and Swayloc) I use a smaller bit of air during normal driving than someone would airing up tires.

For the 35s to come up to street pressure I get it about 1/2 way there before the compressor kicks on. Once I'm done the compressor normally has the tank filled up before I hit the next tire.

I'd still run a tank as just a small buffer for the compressor.

Cool thanks. That was my plan, but if there was absolutely no benefit I wouldn't go through the trouble. I will use it to change my trailer tire pressure based on load as well. Plus mattress and so on.

Thanks!
