For those of you considering your own trailer builds...
here's a few pics of mine in its earlier state, then present, and I'll be now doing some more mods in the next few weeks.
originally purchased for my TJ......and generally expanded to every 6 months.
This was my first welding project...ever......
The general design and sizes came from various sources...I cheated and scaled of the photo's.
The main box is an ex military aluminum shipping crate with seals and pressure releases.....
since removed when I did the drop down tail gate
Roof tent is an old one from venezuela
Wheels and tyres are 32's off my old jeep
frame is 24" off the ground
The hitch bar was bought as it has manufacturing stickers.....so it was easy to register in TX....and is removable for storage and making the frame less than 8 ft.
originally it was fully welded, then I made the wheel arches and side pieces removable.
the box etc all just bolts on
My company will not ship a trailer overseas....however they will ship box's and bits....so everything comes apart for my next transfer
original design with open front frame, I got fed up with everything getting covered in dust and crap, Moab dust gets everywhere.....
Cut the end of the box and made it swing down, built a small "kitchen"
I made a nose cone to match the military container, using 1" steel square and aluminum panels for the weight.
making a two way slanted box took quite some time to get it right...
panels are glued and rivited to the inside, and is fully sealed and dis-mountable with 4 bolts, again for shipping.
underneath the main box and the front box is a 15mm rubber matt to seperate it from the expanded metal beneath.

The open side racks were part of a wilderness rack, the front and rear pieces, used each side.
presently has 12 volts and a 850A battery for ipod sounds and led lighting.
Upgrades for this month while grounded in the house ( wife is due in 4 weeks)
so i thought I do a project to keep me busy and out of the house....
Complete the 12 volt system to include switch panel, and permanently installed sounds and lights
Add in a 20 gallon water tank plumbed and with tap and possible a pump.
Build side cabinets to replace the open carriers, for higher kitchen position and dust proof.
replace the axle with one the correct width......as this 2500lbs chinese one is bent.......probably due to the hangers being narrow
Add permanent gas cylinder and plumb into upper kitchen.
Strengthen fender mounts as part of side box's.
I know I will have a lot of repeated panels etc with the removable box's which will take up useable space and add weight.
But I need them dismountable for shipping.....right now fully loaded I can lift a corner to stack rocks under the tyre..so a liitle more weight won't kill me.
The main box I can lift alone......just....
Hope this gives you prospective trailer owners a few idea's
