Onboard Air Question: How to keep exposed quick disconnects clean?

Here's a couple photos of my setup now, currently wiring and mounting the compressor. This will take a while!

I just cut off the fingers off my latex gloves, Monkey wrench HD can last almost a full summer... I also use them on my Isotherm hot water connections.

Can that type of line handle 200psi?

That's a tough question and it depends on where in the system the hose is. If it's after a tank or a fair distance from the compressor, most any line is okay. Pressure capabilities are greatly effected by temperature. The problem starts when you get close to a compressor. Compressors create a lot of heat. This is why Viair uses leader hoses on all of their hardmount compressors. The leader hose cools the air. But it can only do so much.

If price is not part of the equation, teflon lined stainless braided hose is good.

If you need a high flow capacity, then Gates LOL Plus 1/4" ID Hose might work. It's fairly easily cut to length and fittings inexpensive. I've had good luck with it at 150 PSI. Not sure about 200.

If a lower flow rate is required (no tank) then 1/4" OD DOT Brake Line is good. I would't recommend the instant fittings for them though. Compression fittings work very well but can be hard to find.

Quality quick disconnects cost the same as shoddy ones, they are just a bit harder to fine. Look inside the female coupler and see how many ball bearings it has to grab the male coupler. 3 = real trouble, 4 = marginal/consumer grade, 5 or 6 = durable shop grade.

Sometimes the little things can make a big difference.

I always thought it was the size of the balls, not the quantity.....sorry, I just couldn't let this get by.

I just use another qd fitting with a pipe cap on the threads. The steel caps tend to be large so I find the brass caps that are smaller.
I paint the caps red to stand out.

I'm using these dust caps as well. About $3 each. Bring your couplers with you so you can check the fit

Yep. Spare ac compressor is my OBA compressor. Most guys will use a York compressor but I had a few denso ones laying around, so I made a bracket.
