onboard power supply option for AEV 2018 Ram Diesel?

A popular spot is in the spare tire location. A 35" will fit but once you go 37" you have to go with other methods to carry a full size spare leaving some prime real estate ready for mods.

I was thinking about making a dual battery mount plate with a box on each side for the batteries with a hole in the middle similar to the spare and using the spare tire pulley to lift it into place for trips. Then wiring a 7 pin trailer plug to feed both batteries from the existing +12v accessory wire in the plug.

I am all about modifications that are not permanent. Excited to see which route you go!

Welcome BTW!
I have the Prospector XL so I'm rollin on 40's!! :p I want to put the Titan spare tire fuel tank in the Spare tire well! It adds an extra 30 gals of diesel. I love the 7 pin trailer harness idea to wire in the batts....There should also be a fifth wheel connection in the Harness about dead center under the truck bed that does the same thing as the trailer harness.. i found it on mine crawling under it the other day

That's the only place to put a spare fuel tank though. Titans Aux tank holds 30 more gallons there doubling the trucks capacity.

I'd be leery of mounting a spare battery under the truck. I might consider finding a couple of smaller lithium ion batteries and mounting them behind the back seats or under the back seats.

this thing is kinda ************ though https://www.torklift.com/rv/hiddenpower ...hooks right up to the frame rail totally protected...I have a g30 110ah agm im gunna put in it. Tell me why your leery about under the truck? I would love to hear the "cons" about it (still a noob here) I would hit my frame rails before the batt box. Big mud would make a mess for sure. I have the space behind my seats filled with tools and emergency items.

So not to derail your thread, but out of curiosity does AEV regear the XL's? Or are you running on 3.42's like most of us?

To redeem myself and stay on topic, yea those tanks are sweet!

Ok so you have the single 380 amp, you can upgrade via some stock and some aftermarket to dual 220 alternators. I think you’ll be ok with your single 380, just add a good deep cycle battery for your accessories.

Prospector has 4:10 gears with 37 inch tires and they run 4:30 gears on the prospector xl. Personally I would run 4:30 with the 37’s and 4:56 with the 40’s.

4:88 is what a lot of guys like with 40s.

But back to power supply. Mounting under the cab is just a messy area. But that RV accessory box would make it cleaner.

Check out the ford econoline van battery boxes that mount to the frame rail. Ebay usually has a bunch of brand new ones for sale from up-fitters taking them off during builds.

It's probably just due to mounting hardware. You might be able to make it work if you fab up your own mount.
I ordered it yesterday... I figure its gunna take a little fabin! I put my vehicle description in and they gave me a model number. Hoping for the best...and if not, i own a grinder and a welder! :p

I would be concerned about using a deep cycle for your starting battery(s). I would leave the two primary starting batteries as normal high capacity starting batteries for the truck and the winch. I would then add a deep cycle battery "house" battery for the fridge and other accessories.

I believe that most winch manufactures want the winch connected to the starting battery(s) to get enough amperage and voltage. Winches are not a deep cycle operation, when they nearing stall, they are high amperage applications that starting batteries are designed to support.

That Is the plan! the winch is hooked up to the main batteries, no plan to change that. My next decision is on what to connect my ARB duel air compressor to...main or house. I'm thinking the house battery...
