Awesome writeup & photos! It was great running into at the coffee shop as you were on your way out of town on this adventure last week. After doing a backpacking trip this past weekend, I'm now inspired to try out some ultralite bikepacking after reading this thread. I've briefly thought about it off-and-on over the years but have yet to make it happen. I think I would have to use gears though :bike_rider:

Great trip!

We need to get some sushi now that we are both back :D

Noticed you were rock'in the Nemo love. World-class tents.

Yes to sushi! Next week?

That Nemo GoGo LE rules. It was so light on my bars, I didn't even know it was there. It went up in seconds and stowed just as quickly. Super comfy. I only bumped into a few other riders on my trip (all out on day rides) and a few asked what was attached to my bars. When I said it was my tent, they all said the same thing, "You're kidding."

Cam is a genius.

By the way, Scott. You would have loved this ride. It was completely flat. Not a single hill. :)

Thanks for the link. I currently use Surly cogs, which are steel. How's your experience been with the longetivity of the aluminum cogs?

Sorry for veering off topic, but isn't that some sort of a bike forum rule by now? :D

Looks like you had a great trip. We need to go ride next time you are up this way.

Out of curiosity, what did you bring for parts and tools on the ride?

Absolutely on the ride. I almost gave you a call to see if you wanted to ride with me from Kennebec. Love that ride.

Tools? I carried a lucky rabbit's foot. :)

Seriously, this is the only tool I carry: http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=11&item=MT-1

Aside from that, I had a tiny chain tool, one latex tube, one pre-glued patch kit and my super tiny carbon road pump. I had a few feet of duct tape and super glue in my pack.

I get a season out of those Kick Azz Cogs. Way better than the very nice, but very delicate Chris King cogs. That's a season averaging maybe 8 hours of riding per week from March to December. Pretty good.

Great pics! question about the stuff sack on your handle bar.. I see you used two straps, were the straps affixed to the sack in anyway? Or just torqued down real tight? I wonder if the sack ever slipped out of the straps? Thanks

Outdoor Research makes stuff sacks with a small webbing daisy chain down the side. The bar straps feed through that daisy chain and keeps the stuff sack from squirting out the side. It's pretty solid, but the only thing in there is a small 2 pound tent.

The Sea to Summit accessory straps with aluminum buckles are my favorite straps to use for this stuff.
