most probably you are right. if its the shaft it will be very easy to replace . all i have to do is unbolt 5 # 15 bolts and the shaft will pull out.

if HEEPS are soooo great why are you building a defender, aren't you also the guy who was bragging about having a H1 a while ago... I reckon us Land Rover guys don't want people like you to own a Land Rover...Love em or shut the freak up and drive off into the sunset in your heep...us Land Rover guys will be happy in our little circle without you hypocrites...

All joking aside, there is no perfect SUV as far as the JK goes until you own one I wouldn't get all hot and giddy about it I have a couple of close friends that have owned them and all I will say is eww the 3.7 sucks. I have been a JEEP guy back when they had leaf springs, I owned a TJ that when I was done making it a good trail rig the ownly thing left jeep was the bullet proof 4.0 six. I think most of this thread is about stiring the pot, and most of the talking isn't from real world experiance with actual hands on with the two makes. I to have been a mechanic for over 20 years wow im old!! build jeeps rovers and cruisers, and they all have weaknesses shhh. .don't tell the cruiser guys I said that.

There is allways a few BIG mouths out there that makes a certain group or brand specific guys look bad! But I have to say this is one of the few times I have seen one guy make two brands look bad...:clapsmile

And I wouldn't trade my rolled over trail rashed D90 for any new jeep

aha some one is angry lol i never said defender is bad , i am saying Rubicon is better, the only reason i want defender 130 is because it will be better for my use , i am, not Hypocrite i will tell you right now that if its not Rubicon i wont even think its worth it ,

as far as u guys being happy in your little circle is so true because with a attitude like this toward other 4x4s u wont have much choice any ways


what about the h1 ? yes i am proud owner of 3. and DB9 and ZO6 and many other , now say how bad they are go head feel free

i have a classic i know what defender is.

Not to knock the classic for what it is but nope, sorry, you dont.

I have owned a several classics and they are in no way like a defender except they share some drivetrain pieces. I can hold all 5 of my defender 90s relays in one hand and well rangies are cool trucks but are part of the reason rover has a bad name! lucas isn't kind to the rangies and discos.

The new jeep JKs are very nice. Both in terms of the vehicle, comfort, and capability. The TJ is the standard in off roading. Small, cheap, easily to modify.

Despite all the short comings of my crappy old 109, it always seems to get me home. No matter how bad it is limping. The Disco 2's are very nice trucks and are very capable. Rovers do have a bad reputation but they seem to always come out of left field and impress.

The notion that RR's and Disco's are 'the same' as a Defender is absolutely untrue. I have driven/ridden in many Disco's (1's and 2's) and they drive completely different than a Defender
