The vast majority of FZJ80s on the market are past 150,000 miles. A new 80 simply is not available for purchase, regardless of what one is willing to spend. So yes, to me that vehicle would be worth that price due to the rare mileage, provided it is not from a road salt state.

There is a low mileage LX for sale right now in the IH8mud.com classified section. It is about the same money and it has lockers.

Toyota Leather sucks on 80 series. It isn't much better in the 100 series from what I can tell so far.

Well, I am in Kansas so salt is a bit of an issue, but not terrible. The LX on mud has a sale pending, plus the one I am looking at is only 2.5 hrs away, not 8. I am actually supposed to meet the PO tomorrow to pick it up.:smiley_drive: Pics when I get it home. Unless there is something blatently wrong with it, I will own a '97 LC tomorrow.:wings: Now I just have to sell my wife's '05 Subaru Outback. Any takers.

Well, I am now the proud owner of a '97 LC 80. Overall the truck is very clean with very thourough maint. records. The pics of the driver seat made seem worse that it really is. The PO had all work done by the dealer. Everything from tranny flush, coolant flush, brakes, even replacing the power antenna. Drove it three hours home and everything seems to be working well. There is a drive line thunk when starting from a stop. Could that be the center diff. or possibly u-joints. Now it's time for the mods to begin. Oh wait, that takes money. I guess this is going to be a slooowww build. I will get some pictures soon, as I didn't get home until after dark last night.

The best part of all this. My wife is totally on board and is super exited to make it happen. I think I can thank Overland Journal for that. We have always camped together, but when she started looking at OJ she said she never realized how much cool stuff there is out there:sombrero:. Now she is going to have to reign me in before I break the bank.:Wow1:

Congrats! Sounds like a great find. If you need help tackling some of the PM, you might try some of the Tornado Alley Cruiser folks; I know there are some that live up in your corner.
