Optima or Odyssey?

I know nothing about batteries. I need a new one for the FJ80, has a winch. What's my better option and why? What size do I need? Thanks in advance.

I dont have expierence with Odyssey batteries but I work at Interstate Batteries and we constantly have people bringing Optima batteries back. Usually withing a couple years too. I would avoid the Optima.

Sears, here I come. $210 OTD with an 8 year full replacement warranty per the sales guy. I would likely buy 3 Brand X batteries in that same timeframe. Thanks guys!

Picked up the Sears Plat. on Wednesday and installed. It came with a 4 year full replacement warranty. $220 out the door.

My two optimas are headed out the door. Recently started having, or I should say, not starting and not recharging issues in cold weather. I've had the red tops since 2006, so they've had an ok run especially up to the Arctic in 2007.

So its time for some new juice. I'm curious what others have experience in longevity with Odyssey, Diehard and other brands that may be available.

The Odyssey design life is about 12 years, much more than the Optima. According to our Odyssey rep the Optima's use recycled lead instead of virgin lead. I'm not a chemist so I'll have to take his word on it's value in the battery world. I think at one time Optima's did that, prior to Interstate's acquisition of them as they used to be a very good battery.

Unfortunately none of us Odyssey dealers can touch Sears' warranty on them as they are big enough to handle beyond the standard 4 year warranty themselves.
