Our 'new to us' 2000 X

New Plugs/Wires/Cap/Rotor installed, wasn't bad at all, just needed a few extensions and universals; took a little bit over an hour. She runs smoother for sure, still have a misfire underload, so distributor will now be addressed. I also installed new front swaybar links, ended up having to cut the originals off due to corrosion...a 10 minute thing took about 45 minutes, haha.

I wasn't going to post this...but as a long time lurker and newer member I feel like this site is becoming a digital home. So here goes..

Tomorrow I'll be joining the infamous, secretive, legendary (etc.) clan of Fatherhood. My wife goes in for a c-section at 12:00 pm. We ask for your thoughts/prayers/good vibes. Its been a crazy pregnancy with a serious car accident being thrown in the mix; the big man upstairs has surely been looking out for us by keeping them safe and free of harm.

I won't be able to post for a bit, but I'll throw up a pic of the little guy or girl (no idea) at some point.

Thanks!

Thanks all, it is quite amazing. In car news: ordered a distributor, hope to have it put in in the next week. I'll let you all know the result, just in case someone else has a similar issue.

Holy crap life has been busy...between buying a new house, thorougly enjoying our now 7 month old and work I've had zero time for anything else.

But, for anyone who's Gen 1 X has misfiring issues during acceleration and random idle, try replacing the distributor. I broke down and bought a brand new unit from Napa (after buying two rebuilt units with issues) and had it installed yesterday. It is a new truck, great acceleration, I can actually pass someone now, haha. Not sure exactly what the issue was, but I'm thinking either the electronics were worn on the coil had issues (no crazy bearing sounds).

One of the reasons I wanted to post this is because I had not read of anyone having the same exact issues as mine.

Now onto replacing a cracked radiator...ah boo.

Thanks for the updates on the dizzy. Sounds like the busy life is the good life, just don't blink because the 7month old will be asking to borrow your keys soon enough. :smiley_drive:

Are you going to upgrade your radiator with a supercharged unit? I have not priced them but I'm sure they are not that much more.

I ended up just going with a direct stock replacement, no leaks and I can use my A/C now! Now that all of the mechanical issues are worked out it'll be great to take this thing on a few camping and kayak trips.

Co-opski - I had a few Funfer's myself, 86 535i (Delphin over Llama) and a 90 535i (White over black). I do miss those cars. I'd like to find a 535is e28 but they seem rarer than the M5s. Got a link to any pics?
