What was the plea? Are they doing a price increase or asking for a larger deposit?
Dear Campers,
Since launching Outpost Campers in July 2024, we’ve been humbled by the outpouring of support from this community. From deposits and visits to kind words and sharing photos of your adventures—you’ve helped bring our dream to life, and we are endlessly grateful.
But today, I need to level with you: Outpost Campers is in real danger.
Due to abrupt changes in federal tariff policy, our ability to continue building campers is under immediate threat. While every Outpost 6.5 is proudly built here in Colorado, we rely on key components from around the world—fiberglass from Germany, foam from Mexico, windows, power systems, and other essentials from Asia and Europe. These are not optional luxuries; they are fundamental to building the product you know and love.
In the past two weeks alone, we’ve received daily notices of price spikes and import shutdowns. Some of our most critical parts—like doors and windows—are already at risk of running out entirely in the U.S. as suppliers halt shipments, uncertain of what tariffs will be charged at the port.
If this continues, we may soon be unable to build campers at all. And if we’re forced to raise prices to offset these costs, the Outpost 6.5 could quickly become financially out of reach for the very people we set out to build it for.
This is not a challenge we can face alone. If you believe in Outpost Campers—if you care about the survival of small, innovative manufacturers in this country—we need your help.
Please contact your representatives, the White House, and anyone in a position to act. To make it easy, we’ve created a short message you can download and send directly to your congressman or congresswoman.
We’re fighting every day to keep building. Thank you for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Taylor Ripp
