98 XJ with a 3-4" ish lift.
Bought it maybe six months ago and took it from stupidly modded to useful (2" spacers on 35s with no suspension travel)
Currently modding TJ fender flares onto it. Fronts are done and rears will be sanded and painted tonight.

It rides a hell of a lot better than it did before, but I am wanting to do some more longer range trips and the ride is just not... pleasant after hours of driving. So something will probably replace it sooner than later. Thinking Tacoma or Silverado. :)

My old XJ hated towing our pop up. Trans puked on the PA turnpike one year on the way out to the PA Jeeps show. That was a fun trip!:Wow1:

http://www.autoanything.com/mirrors/77A2990A2343075.aspx they vibrate, but are better than nothing. i try to stay to the left lane. be passed instead of passing anyone.

and i'd love to have WJ seats in my ride. it's on the list of mods. one day. :)

Yeah I like those mirrors too.

I have some, but they are only OK. They vibrate a lot, and attach with rubber straps. I dont need them with the WK because it is a lot wider than the XJ is. Those mirrors look pretty slick hpierce301.

I picked up one of the mirrors on amazon. Missed that they weren't sold in pairs so it wasn't the deal I thought it was. :)

Seems decent enough construction, it uses webbing straps instead of rubber and the tensioner seems adequate. Proof will be in the usage I guess.

Sorry, I never got back to this thread.

The suspension is OME (I think), haven't messed with it other than taking off the no-travel bump stops that were on it when I bought it to clear the 35's the moron had on there. I had never seen the roof rack before and was told that it was custom. But after seeing the Olympic link, it looks like that is what it is. The fit was a little tight, but it is adjustable (narrower), as well as you can slide the load bars forward and back. It seems very sturdy and although I have not ever actually used it for putting stuff up there, it is very solid. I have not used it as a roof slider yet, but I'd bet it does a great job. The top basket part is not as sturdy, but it is very easily removable and you can mount whatever you want up there, which I like.

I did finally get the TJ fender flares (all rears) mounted. The front ones were not too bad, cut a little off the rear and transplanted it to the front of the fender to fill a gap near the top of the bumper. I did not want to mount the rear ones on the door so I cut them and shortened them as well as trimmed around the body lines. They fit pretty well, no rubbing and keep most of the snow/rain/sleet/mud from flying all over the sides and in the window. Before I could not ride through mud/snow with the windows down and I had no problem at all.

I also finished the OBA using the Sanden A/C compressor. Have not tested it on tires yet, but it seems like it works extremely fast. I did not add a tank but have most of the other components.

I just found this thread, Ive been reading up on NAXJA but this place looks cozy too! Building my XJ to be an overland vs most peoples purpose built rock crawler, but the process is slow!

By the way, how does everyone mount their jerry cans without a swing out tire carrier? I am looking to mount one or 2 but don't want to add a new bumper

Really your only option if you don't have a swing out or something similar would be roof rack.

After adding up the cost of 2 jerry cans/rotopax cans, mounts, a gas tank skid, etc, I decided to get the genright 30 gallon tank. Its a big purchase price, but just save up for each individual piece and when you get enough for each of the pieces, put it in your coffee can and you will have enough.
