I don't care what the unknowing masses say, the Liberty is a great rig! when it comes to suspension, I highly recommend OME (Old Man Emu) brand springs or, if you can "spring" for them, the Jeepin' By Al brand front adjustable coilovers. here's me:

The Liberty is a good platform, I had a 04 Kj that I liked a lot but needed to upgrade to a pickup. You'd be suprised what they can do in stock form.

I think I need a bigger truck!
Nice rigs all... there are a few Liberty's around here, lifted with MT's and so on. I am always amazed what a decent 4x4 with a good driver will do! There are some awesome videos on a local site with a pair of Commanders in full stock form doing things that I am sure they shouldn't...lol. A Sidekick in near stock form was following on the same trails. Then a few weeks later someone posted a Hummer H2 on similar trails... looked like a School Bus on those tight twisty treed BC trails (yellow and all).

I look forward to your build as I "Almost" bought a Liberty before the XJ fell into my lap.

Build it and have fun, half of 4 wheeling is the building process. You'll be surprised at what the KJs and KKs can do. Mines been wheeled since day one, has over 163,000 on it now , been lifted over 140,000 miles of that. Stared out I was going to keep it stock, that lasted 2 months ha ha
Friend of mine has a KK with lift etc and goes most anywhere he wants off road

Nice rides and pics

Lets see more pics of your Liberties - they tell the story.....can you guys tell me where you have been? Limitations? I will get some pics together soon.
I am planning a trip this next April - from Seattle down to Moab, up to the San Juans, Durango, Boulder, Yellowrock, then home....still have to get the tent, kitchen, springs and shocks installed.....

Also have to find all the vents underneath to make sure fording is dry - and still looking for a kk snorkel for dust...hopefull not a water issue ....

All the places I want to see! Great Pictures....have to get the galley and tent up...

How is it that there are so few movies on you tube and such, from the states, but lots of great off-road movies from other places around the globe?

If you have lifted your Liberty, what springs and shocks have you put on yours?

Still - no-one makes a snorkel for the new KK Liberty/Cherokee? Whose go some ideas?

And.......I saw on another site where a fellow trimmed off the little air dam and some of the outside low-bumper parts - anyone else done this....

Suggestions (constructive please) for expedition prepping a KK Liberty?

I run a 2.5" Frankenlift with OME stuff. Al's Gen 4.5 Upper A-arms. I've carved the inner front plastic (behind my driving lights) for clearance when I used to run 265/75's. And of course I flattened the pinch welds with a sledge hammer.

No clue on the snorkel.

As for expedition prep: Storage space is the biggest drawback.

Your green machine! didn't you do the trip job prior to building your custom bumper

set up? Great looking Rig!!

I have tried several times to get on lost jeep to get the specific steps to the trim job,, but cannot get on that server to ask.....

'oad - which EMU springs did you get??

Love my liberty more and more everyday. I am building it up to be able to get off the beaten path and tow a pop camper across america and into canada. Thats the plan anyway. :ylsmoke:

How are you planning to set up? Got a route in mind/

Another question for you Liberty owners....is there any mod you've made you wish now you had not? Or have you bought some equipment for your set up you wish you hadn't and wish you bought something else or nothing at all?
