Ovrlnd Camper on F350 CCLB - Overkill?

I never use my pop up door. Plus a solid wall is better to build out, Do more research and look at all the builds on this site and others, How about a tern overland window instead?
I personally use my side hatch constantly. I can put all my groceries away and access them as well without having to crawl into the truck. It's great for grabbing a cold beer as well since my fridge lives right inside the side hatch. I wish I would've gotten 2 honestly then I'd be able to fill my water from the other side without crawling into the camper and also get to my air compressor and tools
.

For the reasons you mention about rain protection with a flip up hatch, I'm stoked I went that route on mine. I also run a 270 awning and if I had barn doors, the rain would come right into the camper with them open. I use a tailgate seal above my rear and side hatches too so I never worry about rain getting in with the hatches open.

I have full barn doors and run a fabric gutter to cover the small opening between the awning and camper. Zero issues. PRIOR to that gutter, the issue was, honestly, water dripping off the struts which stuck out juuuuuuuuuuust far enough that my rubber gutters didn't catch it. That was annoying.

Same. We cook outside. Only thing I may do inside is boil water with the Jetboil for backpack meals if it's too miserable out, coffee or hot chocolate while hanging out inside. Having the fridge aligned with the side hatch is clutch. Especially for roadside lunch stops for sandwiches or something so I don't have to open everything up. I also have a thick rubber bungee strung between two l-track eyebolts above it that I hang our hiking packs on for convenient access. Only thing I wish I did was have them install a Tern window in the hatch.
