Ozark Trail "High Performance" cooler - any good?

Biggest issue I can see is that there is no provision for an internal divider to organize things, and you may or may not have the option of a shelf that most other coolers have.

the 52 and 73 come with a shelf/basket as seen here...the 26 obviously doesn't have one:

I haven't used a cooler with dividers or shelves in quite some time.

I have very limited space for a cooler inside my Xterra so in addition to using a smaller cooler not equipped from the manufacturer with shelf or divider, I have changed trip menus to minimize the number of items that require refrigeration. Now the only items in the cooler are in sealed spill-proof and "cooler water"-proof containers. Many of the items are homemade frozen entrees in Foodsaver vacuum sealed bags that I can throw into a pot of boiling water at dinner time for a hassle free meal. Steaks and other meats are also frozen in vacuum sealed bags. I freeze water in a recycled 1/2 gal. plastic milk jug for cooler ice rather than use cubes. This minimizes mess and makes organization easy.

One way to add a shelf to a cooler that didn't come with one is to modify a wire kitchen shelf organizer to fit. I did that with the Engel fridge in my offroad trailer.

Something like this:

Looks like procrastination pays off - sometimes.

I didn't get around to going back to my local Walmart for another go-around with the Manager about trying to locate a 26-qt. Ozark Trail High Performance Cooler, but this morning Walmart.com shows the 26-qt. version available for order with free ship-to-store.

I ordered one, scheduled to arrive by 4/28.

The website shows availability as of 4/21/16 at 08:30 PDT, but doesn't show the quantity available.

Better place your order if you want one. The 52-qt. version sold out in a few hours.

Note: Even though I signed up for Walmart to send an "In Store Alert," I never received one. The way I found out these were available for online purchase was to save the product listing as a favorite and refresh the page [F5] each morning.

Same here, no message. Just seen this is the only way I knew, I've been checking local stores. Really wanted to see it first, but I'm not buying a YETI anytime soon so I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm curious how it will fit in back of the X.

Thank you Mr. Bills. I ordered one. Says I'll have it by May 2...

Gah balls, late to the party. I also have an xterra, I have an engel 17, and 73!which is way to big. I plan on selling all my other coolers to get a 52 for general use and keep hunting for a engel 43 for the X.

All three sizes of the Ozark Trail High-Performance cooler are sold out and "out of stock" again on walmart.com as of 5:30 pm PDT 4/22/16. [26-, 52- and 73-qt.]

Popular buggers, or is it just we Expo members who are buying them?

My 26-qt. (purchased online/ship to store on 4/21) is currently with FedEx and scheduled to arrive on 4/28.

Gilroy Walmart has the 70 quart, only one. First one I've seen in person, I'm shooting for either of the other two sizes. When I pressed the mouth breather, err, associate?!? They stated they don't sell well so they don't get many and to check back next month. I asked how many they get. He sweated back at me "1 little one, one big one, and 2 little ones."

Hey guys, I am going to start the test between the 26 QT Ozark Trail and the 20 QT Igloo sportsman today. I'll start posting pics as well.

On a side note, the Parker, CO Walmart has the 73 QT for anyone that lives around these parts. This is the first time I've seen any of them back in that store since I bought my 26 and 52 Qt's when they first came out over a month ago.

I picked up the 73 quart in store on Wednesday an decided to immediately run a little test. I purchased two bags of ice, four 2-liters and a six pack and dropped them all in the cooler in the parking lot.
I then ran my errands for the day and the outside temp got up to 95 degrees, Oh and my AC doesn't work at the moment... I then parked the Cruiser in my driveway where it gets a full day of direct sun light. I also placed a thermometer on top of the cooler to see how hot it managed to get externally which maxed out at 120 both on day 1 and 2. I checked the cooler twice on day one, three times on day two, the ice ended up lasting 48 hours.
I would say this was an extreme test as most of the time this wouldn't be stored in a stagnant vehicle in direct sun light, the vehicle has no ac, the tint on the cargo windows suck and the items placed in the cooler were not pre chilled.

I went to 4 Wal Marts near my house and neither one had any. I asked two sporting goods associates and neither one had even heard about the coolers. I guess I should have headed over to Wetmore.
