When I was studying for my MBA, Walmart was a big topic. While wages are low, the discounts they offer are worth more to people with low income than all the welfare payments made by the US government. For my part, people working at Walmart aren't slaves. If they can do better, then they should. McDonald's is now testing kiosks that will replace workers, under the pressure from the new $15 minimum wage drive. Walmart is battling Amazon now, raising wages won't help.

What I hate is not wealth, but greed. And greed is why Walmart bilks taxpayers. Greed is why they exploit their workers and suppliers.

And greed is why people, aware of these things, still shop there.

One of the things I love about living in an area with an active outdoor population is that good used gear is plentiful in the classifieds and thrift stores.

I think buying second hand is great, just find it odd he somehow can lecture others on tax policy and buying high-end American then they themselves hit up the thrift stores.

One great thing about thrift stores is that most of them provide job training and job placement within the local community.
