Don't want to steal thread but... My tent is like two years old... used regularly and tent is FINE with no issues. I think maybe from being ontop in the elements the bag straps have all torn off from use. Bag is OK straps tear at position sewn to bag. I only have one edd strap left on each end the others are all torn off.

Anyone else have this issue with one traveling ontop?

I was just using bungee cords to hold it to the roof bars, but didn't like having to take it down and lock it in the cab when away from the truck for extended periods in certain areas, especially when it's wet or covered with snow and ice. Also there was nothing to keep it from sliding off if a bungee should break. I wish I could mount it lower but the shorter rack legs won't let things clear the sunroofs when open.

I got some lockable straps made for securing surfboards. I put them through the carry loops to stop them flapping in the wind, and have seen no sign of damage in the 1st year of use.

Ok the straps won't stop a vandal slashing the bag, but the tent isn't coming off without bolt cutters.
