I am trying to squeeze in a short trip this weekend so I called in some backup and got the winch mounted up today. I thought it would give me a bit more peace of mind.
I had help that was on a tight schedule so I didn't get any install pics. I grabbed a few of the final product when I got home though.

I mounted the solenoid bracket on the radiator support to get keep it a bit better hidden from the elements.

I decided to mount the plug for the winch remote in the grill.

I think I would eventually like to switch over to winch rope, but for the time being I'm gonna use the cable and roller fairlead.

Looks like all kinds of fun! You're probably happy you're not getting hit with these Bering Sea style conditions we're getting here.

I was a great time ! I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm glad I'm not getting more snow here though !! I absolutely love some snow !! Ecspecially driving in it, it is a riot here in the south when we get any snow. The wrecks start at the mere forecast of snow !

Due to my MD I can only play once i get behind the wheel (have enough trouble walking on flat non snow covered ground) but put me in the truck with some DEEP snow, thats when I start to smile !

Santa came early and brought me a sweet new head unit. Got it installed today. Major improvement over the stock unit. Lots of cool features to.

A few months ago I had upgraded the the speakers in the front doors and the tweeters in the A-pillars.
Managed to get both of my vans in this pic LOL !!

New head unit has lots of cool bluetooth features, I put the mic for the bluetooth phone deal up at the top of the a-pillar trim.

Looks good! Very similar to my Kenwood head unit, the bluetooth mic and iPod capability make all the difference. :)

Partsflyin, Time to change your thread name as your build is no longer mild. Your truck looks fantastic and is built up perfect for overland travel and DD duties.

Thanks BTW !!

I hope to be able to pull of a trip out west in spring of 2015, plan to drive the truck out and do the exploring I have always wanted to. trying to get her ready step by step.

Santa came to see me again. Found a good deal on a used CKMA12 ARB compressor. Trying to decide where to mount it right now. I can't afford the locker yet but I am saving my pennies for one . For sure want to arb (or TJM) lock the rear when I finish saving up.

I figured it would ease the pain a bit to go ahead and spring for the compressor. And I will have onboard air.

Hey, when you're gearing up for it, let me know. I'll be glad to show you some of Montana's treasures. There are some you just can't miss!

Hope to get started on the install this weekend. I think I am going to mount it behind the back seat. Not 100% sure yet , but thats what I am leaning towards.

I will do that for sure. About three years ago family and i flew out o Bozeman and drove up to a small town about 45 minutes outside of Gardiner. Spent a week in the area, I cannot put to words how much I enjoyed the visit. Spent a few days in Yellowstone, spent a day floating the Yellowstone river, saw a rodeo in Livingston.

Without questions some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. I cannot wait to get back to the area for some more exploring. It would be great to have a local guide !!
