stuck for 5 hours in the mountains of guatemala due to construction

some fellow overlanders
we spent three days on roads like this.
we were going so slow up and down the mountains that our gps would ask us if we'd like to switch to pedestrian mode about every 15 minutes.
Thinking about getting a swing arm built in Guatemala. Thoughts?
The labor costs in Guatemala make it a tempting place to get some work done on the truck. We've been wanting to get a pair of swing arms made to hold our jerry can, water can and propane. At the moment we have to move all three items into and out of the truck when we stop for the night and its getting old. The truck is famed in 2" steel tubing so we can easily mount an upper and lower hinge on each side to spread the weight and reduce the torque. Any thoughts about how to get a decent hinge built in a small Guatemalan town? I'm open to all suggestions. Each arm will carry a single jerry can and one will also carry a 11 lb propane tank. I modeled a rough draft of what I'm thinking. Thoughts?
They make pivots for swingout bumpers but I don't know where to find such a thing in Guatemala. I think you could get something fabbed up at a workshop. Look for a soldadura (welding) shop (taller).
I'd post on 4x4guatemala.org and see if those guys can recommend a shop. They've helped me out quite a bit in the past.
As for design suggestions, make sure the cans are mounted up high enough that they don't create too much overhang. My custom swingout drags on the ground when I enter a steep incline while off-road. It's very annoying.
