Pathfinder OEM skid plates

I actually had the OEM skid plates Installed on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I purchased them from Peoria Nissan. They have held up very well and have provided quite a bit of protection over the last few years. I have included some additional information below.

The engine cover skid plate is part number 50842-ESPFR and listed for
$14.72. The transfer case cover skid plate is part number 50884-TSP00 and listed for $14.02. The fuel tank skid plate is part number 50890-EA500 and lists for $105.39. You will also need to order 13 skid plate bolts, part number 01121-06561 and they will cost around $.80 each.

Installation is very easy. A long extension is needed to reach the one 12mm bolt up by the driveshaft on the fuel tank cover. It is the only bolt that will take close to a minute to put on.

Why leave the muffler uncovered? Heat?

Yep, heat. In fact, several folks I am aquainted with have heat damaged (melted rubber) spare tires slung under the truck and too close to the muffler. This has been a consideration mainly on larger-than-OEM tires that take up more room and thus nudged too close to the muffler when snugged up tight.
